    Dear Mesinas,

    Constructive criticism is always necessary. It is only when we exchange ideas that we teach one another. No quarrels up to this paint.
    I have 3 point to make about your. 1. Your dedication and your stand against the absurdities of pfdj is to be commended. We do love you for that. But please take the following so you can even edify and teach.

    2. I am not sure if you are a teacher by profession or were you in position of power under pfdj: you come across as patronizing. I suggest you remember the perennial wisdom: humility. If you think you are always right, that will stop you from learning from others. [Remember a few weeks a go there was a debate about words ending with ‘gna’ You dared to say that we say ‘Talyanegna…’ when clearly it is not the case.] Please remember there there are things that you may not know, others may know, and this medium is where one can learn from others for free! Leave Mesinas the teacher behind and assume the role of a student at times.

    3. The other thing I find slightly disappointing is that you come across as defensive rather than be grateful for the constructive criticism you received.
    I do not think you needed to write እቲ ንጸሊም፡ ጸሊም፣ ንጻዕዳ፡ ጻዕዳ ናይ ምባል ባህልን ልምድን ዘሎኒ ሓውካ መሲናስ’የ። I sincerely feel this is unnecessary.

    Finally let’s concentrate on the destructive sadist organization called pfdj.

    ብመጀመርያ ንሕውነታዊ ምኽርኻ ብልቢ አመስግነካ። ብምቕጻል፥ ብዛዕ’ቲ ሂብካኒ ዘለኻ ምኽሪ ገለ ክብል ፍቐደለይ?

    ትምህርቲ ካብ ዓቢ ይኹን ካብ ንእሽቶ ብዘየገድስ እቲ ኣብ ቀዳማይ ደረጃ ዚሰርዖ ጉዳይ እዩ። ምኽንያቱ፡ ከምኡ እንተዘይገብር ኔረ ኣብዚ ሕጂ ዘለኹዎ ደረጃ ፍልጠት ቋንቋ ኣይምበጻሕኩን ኢለ’የ ዝኣምን። ገና ብህይወት ክሳዕ ዘለኹውን ተመሃራይ እየ። ተማሃራይ ስለ ዝኾንኩ ግን ንመምህር እርማት ክህብ የብለይን ኢለ ኣይኣምንን’የ። እቲ ቅድሚ ሕጂ ብዛዕባ ፊደል “ኛ” ዝበልኩዎ እውን ክሳዕ ጌጋ ሙዃኑ ብጭብጢ ዘረድኣኒ ወይ ዝእርመኒ ሰብ ዝረክብ፡ እቲ ኣነ ኮነ ካልኦት ኪኢላታት ቋንቋ ዝጥቀሙሉ ንሱ ስለ ዚኾነ ኣብዚ ምሳኻትኩም ኣይሰማማዕን’የ። ማለት ኣምሓርኛ’ዩ ኣይብልን’የ።

    “I do not think you needed to write እቲ ንጸሊም፡ ጸሊም፣ ንጻዕዳ፡ ጻዕዳ ናይ ምባል ባህልን ልምድን ዘሎኒ ሓውካ መሲናስ’የ። I sincerely feel this is unnecessary.” እዚ ውስጠዘ’ዩ። እዚ ንምንታይ እየ ኢለዮ? እቲ ሓደ ካብቲ ንጃንዳ ህግደፍ ተሪረ ንኽቃለሶ ዝቐሰበኒ ነገር ሓደ ብሙዃኑ’ዩ። ውልቀ መላኺ ኢሳያስ ኣፈወርቂ ብዘይካ ምውዳስ ይሕመቕ ይጸብቕ ነቐፌታ ኣይፈቱን’ዩ፤ ኣየፍቅድንውን’ዩ። እዚ ኸኣ ብኸምዚ ሕጂ ሓው ኣማኑኤል እያሱ ስለ ዚተነቕፈ ገለ ኣሕዋትን ኣሓትን ዘሐመኩም ዘሎ’ዩ ኣብቲ ውልቀ መላኺውን ጀሚሩን ክሳዕ ሕጂ ዘሎን። ካብዚ ባህርን ልምድን’ዚ ፈጺምና ክንጋላገል ኣለና! ዚኾነ ሰብ ደጋፊድዩ ተቓዋሚ፡ ብዘየገድስ መን’ዩ፡ ጉድለት ኪፍጽም ከሎ ምንቃፉ ግድን ክልመድ ኣለዎ። ኣነ ኸኣ እዚ ባህርን ልምድን’ዚ ምሉእ ብምሉእ ወኒነዮ ከም ዘለኹ ንምግላጽ’የ “እቲ ንጸሊም፡ ጸሊም፣ ንጻዕዳ፡ ጻዕዳ ናይ ምባል ባህልን ልምድን ዘሎኒ” ዝበልኩ። ንዚኾነ ሰብ ክነቅፍን ዚኾነ ሰብ ክነቕፈንን ግቡእን ሓላፍነታውን’ዩ። ስለዚ፡ ክቡር ሓው ሰላማዊ በዚ ኣይትሰከፍ! ቅሰን! እቲ ደረጃ ንቕሓቱ ክብ ዘበለን ወትሩ ንኺፈልጥ ዚህንጠን ሰብ ንነቐፌታይ ሓንጎፋይ ኢሉ ኪቕበሎ’ዩ። ኣነውን ከምኡ። ሓንቲ ትማሊ ምስ ሓደ ሓው ዝተመላለስናያ ኣብነት ክህበካ፥

    “ብዘይቀለዓለም ብሱል ትሕዝቶ፡ ብላዛ ዘሎዎ ቃላትን ኣጸሓሕፋን ዝተወረቐ መልእኽቲ! ክቡር ጸሓፊ ላዛን መቐረትን ጽሑፍኩም ንኡድ’ዩ፣ ንመጻኢ ዝያዳ መታን ኪሕይል ግን እዞም ዝስዕቡ ቃላትን ካልኦትን ኣድህቦ ክትገብሩሎም እላቦ? ንኣብነት፦ “ምዕባሌ ብ ምዕባለ፣ መጨረሻ ብ መጠረስታ፣ ኢዩ ብ እዩ፣ ወ.ዘ.ተ. ብ ወዘተ.፣ ኣሎና ብ ኣለና፣” ወዘተ. ዝኣመሰሉ ቃላት ተኣሪሞም እንተ ዝኾኑ ኔሮም ሰዋስው ጽሑፍኩም ምሉእ ምኾነ ኔሩ እብል። ንኣብነት እዛ ኣብ መዛዘሚ ናይ ጽሕፍኩም ዘላ ሕጥበ ጽሑፍ እንተ ወሲድና፦ “ሓደ ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ድማ ኣሎካ። ንህዝቢ ኢልካ ትቃለስ እንተ ኮንካ እቲ ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ኣሊኻ፡ ስልጣን ናብ ህዝቢ ኢዩ ከተረክብ ዘሎካ።” ኣብታ መወዳእታ ንእሽቶይ ጉድለት ኣላ። ብኸምዚ ድማ ክትእረም እግብኣ ኔሩ እብል። “ስልጣን ናብ ህዝቢ ኢዩ ከተረክብ ዘለካ።” ዘሎካ ዘይኮነስ ዘለካ እዩ እቲ ቅኑዕ። ምኽንያቱ “ሓደ ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ድማ ኣሎካ” ቅኑዕ ኪኸውን ከሎ “ሓደ ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ድማ ኣለካ” ድማ ጌጋ’ዩ። ኣለኻ ኣብ ሓደ ቦታ ምህላው ከመልክት ከሎ፣ ኣሎካ ድማ ሓደ ነገር ከም ዚወነንካ’ዩ ዘመልክት። የቐንየለይ።”

      Thank you for taking your precious time to give rather long response or should I call it a polite rebuttal to my comment. Having read your response you confirmed to me that you are not prepared to take suggestions easily. If you think you know it all, and if it is your way or no way, then we can aim at something else.

      In the response you gave above, I could not detect the slightest readiness or evidence to show that you learnt from others. What you have said is that you managed to teach someone, as if I did not know that. My suggestion was to be open to learn from others and not to be alert and promptly defend your corner (self-defense.) Plus to put your comments in non-patronizing way.

      You wrote ….እዚ’ዩ እቲ ቕኑዕ ኢልና ንሰባት ክንምጉት ኣይንኽእልን ኢና። ምኽንያቱ፡ መወከስን መረዳእታን ስለ ዘይብልና። If I am not mistaken that exactly what you have been telling us though. I thinks there are grammatical books we can use, and there is sufficient literature from which we can learn. If you think መወከስን መረዳእታን ስለ ዘይብልና, on what basis do you say this is right, that is wrong…? In the absence of such references መወከስን መረዳእታን(as you put it) it is better to say ‘in my opinion…’

      Let’s look at what you wrote: እቲ ቅድሚ ሕጂ ብዛዕባ ፊደል “ኛ” ዝበልኩዎ እውን ክሳዕ ጌጋ ሙዃኑ ብጭብጢ ዘረድኣኒ ወይ ዝእርመኒ ሰብ ዝረክብ፡ እቲ ኣነ ኮነ ካልኦት ኪኢላታት ቋንቋ ዝጥቀሙሉ ንሱ ስለ ዚኾነ ኣብዚ ምሳኻትኩም ኣይሰማማዕን’የ። ማለት ኣምሓርኛ’ዩ ኣይብልን’የ። You believe you are an expert, and you believe there are other experts like you. What made you think you are an expert in [qwanqua habesha]language. Did you obtain an academic qualification (in any language) or you taught yourself through personal interest and observation/interaction. The latter is valid but in my opinion it is not enough to lead you believe that your are an expert. Even if you are an expert, a little bit of humility or even reticence would not harm, I suppose.

      You say: ሓው ኣማኑኤል እያሱ ድማ ከምቲ መንፍዓቱ ኣብ ቋንቋ ከም ገዲም ጋዜጠኛ መጠን ንኡድ ኣይኮነን። You may think like that, and sincerely commend you for paying attention to details, as long as you do your homework first, and you communicate polity – beware of patronizing attitude as it will repel many readers of yours. I think Ato Amanuel’s writings do flow smoothly. You complain it is too long…who said it has to be short? Please let him say as long as he can in the form of poem, prose or articles. He is perfectly capable of communicating his message across and many of us like it: I do. If you have constructive criticism, I suggest you do not divert him unnecessarily. Unless, of course, the message is skewed. I do not find words such as ንኡድ ኣይኮነን to be constructive but undermining.

      You felt free to say …ሓው ኣማኑኤል እያሱ ስለ ዚተነቕፈ ገለ ኣሕዋትን ኣሓትን ዘሐመኩም ዘሎ’ዩ ኣብቲ ውልቀ መላኺውን ጀሚሩን ክሳዕ ሕጂ ዘሎን:: I have not read closely what others said, and do not feel in a position to comment. My comment was about your attitude and assertions.

      Quite frankly when you wrote እቲ ንጸሊም፡ ጸሊም፣ ንጻዕዳ፡ ጻዕዳ ናይ ምባል ባህልን ልምድን ዘሎኒ ሓውካ መሲናስ’የ: you are bragging (feKera) in my view.

      Having said all of the above, if you still need hard evidence to show that ‘gna’ is Amharic derivative, I fear that I may end up getting embroiled in further debate with you as I do not see a shred of good will to learn from others but an urge to teach vigorously. You said ብዛዕባ ፊደል “ኛ” ዝበልኩዎ እውን ክሳዕ ጌጋ ሙዃኑ ብጭብጢ ዘረድኣኒ ወይ ዝእርመኒ ሰብ ዝረክብ… You may want to refer to Dr Kidanemariam Zerezghi if my memory serves me well. By the way I am not saying that we should not use anything that is derived from Amharic. However, I would try my best to speak and write in the way a native Habesha can understand. In our language, qwanqwa Habesha, the name of a language is the same as the person who speaks it e.g. Tigre = qwanqwa Tigre, Denkel, Saho, Kunama, Tilyan, Englisz, Areb, qwuanqa Amhara, etc. I do not know you, the new experts, operate, but this is what know. Hope this is enough Hawna Mesinas. Kibret yehabeley!

    Mesinas
    First of all it is wrong to bring as an
    example of our people’s support to
    one man rule with our support to
    ordinary political activist in risky
    mission . I wish we have done so
    when they start to blackmail and
    arrest nationals in violation to the court of law.
    Second , we should practice what we
    profess in case of respecting criticism
    instead defensive response .
    Remember that our objection was
    nothing but only honest reaction .
