Reports coming out from Asmara Airport say that the mother of the incarcerated Eritrean journalist Dawit Isaak passed away a week ago.
Letai kiflemariam in her 70s was a distraught mum for the fact that she neither knew where her son is imprisoned nor he is alive. She was praying for her son to be released after she saw him for the last time in a blink of an eye four years ago, never to kiss him again.
The Eritrean regime denied her access to visit her son. She had been in an ordeal feeling blue as most of the families who lost their beloved ones for nothing other than being true citizens of the nation.
Letai passed away at Asmara Airport while intending to fly to Sweden. Her body laid to rest in Daero Qawlos in the vicinity of Asmara. The last 10 years she was fighting and enduring so much distress. As a caring Eritrean mother her health deteriorated dramatically where she had no one to tell her anguish except to her grave.
May her soul rest in peace.
It is to be recalled Dawit’s father aboy Isack died five years ago. Dawit lost both his parents while he is also suffering with blood pressure in PFDJ prison under inhuman conditions.
It is a well known fact that, nowadays, journalists, religious leaders, high ranking officials and other Eritreans are languishing in underground dungeons and metal containers for their political and religious views.
Assenna.com expresses its deepest condolences on the death of Adey Letai Kiflemariam, and wishes her family comfort and peace during their difficult time.
