UNITED NATIONS, October 27 — As the push for additional sanctions against Eritrea gathers strength in the UN Security Council, Eritrean president Isaias Afwerki has asked to come and personally speak to the Council, Inner City Press was told Thursday by a Council Permanent Representative and the Deputy Permanent Representative of a Permanent Five member.

Both said there might be problems, in that other heads of state of neighboring countries, including Ethiopia and Djibouti, might then also want to address the Council. This happened earlier this year, at the foreign minister level, in a meeting in the UN’s North Lawn building exclusively reported by Inner City Press. (Click here for Inner City Press interview with Afwerki’s adviser Yemane.)

Thursday Inner City Press observed diplomats from Ethiopia and Djibouti going into the Security Council, followed shortly thereafter by US Ambassador Susan Rice. When Inner City Press asked, it was told “bilaterals,” not a Council meeting. More like “multi-laterals” or “Horn-wide,” said one wag.

Afwerki & Ban Ki-moon, new sanctions and impacts not shown African Union sources tells Inner City Press that “the neighbors” want harsher sanctions on Eritrea than the rest of the African Union can live with. Susan Rice and the US, they say, seems to be siding with “the neighbors.”

One AU source bemoaned, “The Ethiopians and Eritreans, their leaders, they are related… This whole thing, it is a great pain to us.” Another noted, “It is better to talk than fight.”

Compare the story below to your current shame in your identity, languages, heritage, and your shameful deaths in the hands of the freaking Arabs. The coward Arabs despise you so much they are harvesting your organs alive.
Compare to your Habesha ancestors who defended themeselves from the savage Arabs for centuries and centuries.
Read, the young Zerai Deres. Does this ring a bell in your lazy minds?
On May 21, 1937, in Rome, Italy was celebrating its fourth anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Empire. The celebratory parade was attended by Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and King Victor Emmanuel III. Thousands of subjects from Italy’s African colonies marched during the parade. Among them was a young Eritrean man named Zerai Deres. He was carrying the sword to salute the King, the Führer, and Il Duce, at the grandstand. As the parade marched past the Vittorio Emanuele monument, Zerai Deres looked up and saw the golden Lion of Judah, the symbol of the ancient monarchy, to which his ancestors had long owed allegiance, erected as a war booty in the heart of Rome. The shock was too great for him, and he drew his sword and with it he slew five fascist guards[1], as well as wounding others, before he himself was killed[2] on the spot in a hail of gunshots.

    Haqi tezareb:
Whoever you’re, don’t try to shamelessly exploit and take advantage of the Eritrean people’s misery at the moment. We know our history better than you think. We are aware of our heroes, such as Zerai Deres’s exploits in Rome or Abraha Deboch along with another Eritrean who tried to take out Gen. Grazianni (the Fascist Italy commander in Ethiopia) in Addis Ababa with a hand grenade. We are aware of Gen. Aman Michael Andom, one of Ethiopia’s highly decorated army officers, who commanded the victorious Ethiopian army in the Ogaden over Somalia in the sixties…He was an Eritrean too, by birth, but an Ethiopian by conviction and nationality.
In fact, there is no Ethioipian history without Eritrea or Eritreans! None! The 3 thousand yrs history Ethiopians are proud of also belongs to Eritreans.
Secondly, don’t blame the victim…if Arabs in the Sanai are abusing and killing helpless refugees, including Eritreans, Ethiopians, (yes, Ethiopians too), Sudanese, Somalis, how is that the refugees’ fault? And, who is the lazy mind now?
So, quit this silliness, while hiding behind assumed names.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
