Fetsum: FROM THE FORUM ON THE LAST THREE ARTICLES ON VACCARO
The time for the resistance to fail because of INFILTRATION is over. It is no more a valid excuse to cover up weaknesses in the opposition camp. We must accept that we are responsible for our condition. We will at least protect the Vaccaro movement from this excuse of failure by electing dependable individuals in the committees. We want to see change in the committees (specially in DC and the Bay Area) to succeed. Vaccaro must challenge the existing committees everywhere on ACTIVITY REPOR basis and act without SIKIFTA to get rid of the bug.
As we march forward weeding out the obstacles and the stagnant minds out of the way, we are entering a new stage of productivity where words have to be reduced to practice, nullified otherwise. This is the time for the enemy to press the red button and for the resistance to continue inflicting the damage more intensely. Afwerki will never dare say with confidence that the “resistance does not exist” any longer because he has to start feeling the pressure whether he pretends otherwise or not. I guarantee you that we are around the corner now looking at the enemy in the eyes. For the unified punch to knockout the enemy in this final round though, it needs to be fueled by a WRITTEN GUIDE LINE and that is all we have to do in order to end up chilling with a good cup of coffee in down town Asmara soon. What I mean is that the mobilization stage is successfully over and the resistance must now enter the stage of defining its FOCAL POINT in writing within this year so that we can focus on diplomacy and entertain methods of eliminating the regime with full involvement. This can be done in a as short time as in 2015-16 if we do the next challenge successfully. Guess what! We are doing it!!!
MightyEmbasoyra: “Unless we should be able to criticize anyone’s comment or action, we are moving nowhere or to the same place so called HGDF’s gate of horror. My take on this article is that Ato Fitsum is pointing out few critical points:
1) This move has no strategy, so far. I find it true, so far – no concrete action, yet.
2) We don’t know who the elected committees and to make it worse, how they get elected. Wasn’t this the system of Isayas? We didn’t know him that who truly he was and his plans? If we do, would anyone with the right mind (with the exception of few talking animals) prefer to be led by that lunatic criminal?
3) For those few elected committees that Ato Fitsum knew, they don’t seem to be qualified to hold the position. He is also justifying it by their “no action” so far. Let’s assume for once that these individuals are well qualified, this article is a Reminder to them that “people are watching” and we are telling them to get their acts together. If they can’t handle those kinds of inputs, they have no business to hold those positions. Do you know a leader who can’t handle any simple criticism while he dumps huge load of them to others? Hint: he is running our country to ground. So, I see this as a positive criticism.”
Genet-orginal: “Dear Mighty. What an excellent statement! I have nothing to add more thanks.”
Meretse Asmelash: “Brother Mighty, Two thumbs up. In short what you are saying is an intelligent preparation can make hard work much easier. Anyone who is leading a movement should have an answer/answers for questions: What has been done before? Has it worked or failed? What do we need to do now differently? What’s never been tried before? and as such. Reminding someone you love; please don’t forget this or that is constructive criticism; it is a brotherly reminder to work smart. Dear readers, now, allow me to leave you with the following quote which I came across it sometime in the past: “Those who plan for what is ahead first should check out what is near at hand”
Kalighe on: “Wedi Vaccaro so far has done a wonderful job. His call for national unity in the way he is doing it is unprecedented. His message is simple and purely nationalistic. That said, it’s true that his movement lacks a well defined political agenda, and thus can be easily high jacked by Higdef operatives who may be posing as opposition activists to infiltrate it and eventually derail the movement. All those who want a change in Eritrea should be involved and keep a good eye everything the committee is doing.”
Response: Response: We are all in the Vaccaro camp and we believe in taking care of our movement through honest feedback. The reason Vaccaro came to this forum after a while was because he specified what he wants clearly in his last message significantly narrowing our difference. But the reason Vaccaro will succeed is because he is transparent; a man that takes positive criticisms as beneficial for the movement. He does not personalize opinions and he calls people to discuss them on his initiative. Vaccaro is the only leader I know who does this based on my experience. The brother knows well that he was misrepresented by the committees and he is now cleaning them good. The London experience is an example for this and I believe we will reconfigure the DC committee upon his arrival here. I want to extend my appreciation here and thank the brother for calling me repeatedly to discuss the DC problem that he agreed 100% on. We are now communicating directly because all of your contributions and I expect a lot of success this May that we will share in this media after the activities are over. I am using this opportunity to introduce my formula of transiting Eritrea to democracy at the expense of extreme hard work. It is worth it!
I believe all the commentators have identified the problem standing in the way. A political agenda is mandatory for success.. PERIOD and I believe the brother has been reminded enough about this in our forum, needless to say that we will contact him directly in his tour for Independence Day festivities here in DC. He has invited me to work with him on this and we shall do it together upon his arrival. I don’t want to meet him without something concrete about what I have been saying (the necessity of a transitional formula to democracy) without being a hypocrite. I am preparing the material that I think we (the resistance as a unit) can take off from. Vacarro will return home with a preliminary document I developed with my group on ERITREAN TRANSITION TO DEMOCRACY based on the ACCRA PEACE ACCORD (Liberian Experience) which I tend to disclose to all Eritreans very soon depending on how things may develop forward.
Belay nega: “Brother Meretse,“Wedi vecaro Dr.”Don’t you feel that Eritrean people is introducing an IDOL at an alarming rate?
Hagherawi: “belay nega; Don’t worry, Eritreans need someone who unites them. That is the most important part. Dictators divide people, while leaders unite them. We hope he will be an elected President of Eritrea.”
Comment: Good question by Belay and good answer by Hag. Every movement succeeds because of a charismatic leader and Vacarro happens to be the man in that spotlight today. Castro, Afwerki (in the past), SamoraMichel, Mugabe, Mandella; etc. That charismatic character for today’s Eritrea is certainly Vaccaro in my opinion and we should support him fully without developing his cult like we did in the case of that loner in Asmara whose unconventional behavior and incapacity restricted his political life to mere friendship with the criminal dictator Bashir. Afwerki’s diplomatic performance is today limited to Sudan specially after the Quatari president ridiculed him by assigning a mediocre politician to hospitalize him at the Qatari airport in his recent visit to the country. The monkey was in Khartoum few weeks ago and the president I think is currently visiting Bashir for whatever they may have to discuss. Remember that Obama has ignored the two losers while inviting the rest of African Presidents in August minus Mugabe.
Abraham Haile: “Brother Futsum; I totally agree on your conclusion that the Vaccarro Camp should entertain all Eritrean including the opposition group who willingly accept his invitation to participate in these Historic Peoples Revolution (not proletarian movement) meaning the Eritrean Struggle for Justice. But, we also need to remember that this movement is people’s movement [] prepared to fight the regime for the benefit of all Eritrean who are suffering under the Junta regime in Asmara. Therefore, all organizations whether Political or Civic should accept the unconditional situation in the Vaccarro’s Camp.
Response: Exactly my brother. There is no conflict of interest between the movement and the resistance over all, only harmony of interest. They talk the same language (overthrowing the regime) and forecast Eritrean democracy ahead. Therefore, they should support him fully unless there is a problem with honesty. This movement is in fact the litmus test that defines which group/party was for real and which one was faking for at least the last ten years.
Gideon: “The greatest risk for poor Eritrea is that when the regime falls, and ultimately all regimes fall, the government as well as the state fall with the regime, since they are one and the same and there are no institution to sustain the continuity of the state. The absence of united organization of opposition forces greatly accentuates the risk of state collapse when the regime falls. The necessity to double our collective efforts to fight the “culture of fear” and create in its place a culture of openness, tolerance, constructive dialogue, critical thinking, mutual respect and trust. A dialog that lacks civil discourse can only amount to mimicking the regime’s destructive and arrogant culture and, in the final analysis, will feed into paralyzing antipathy, cynicism, pessimism and mistrust. With the severely weakened sense of Eritrean unity and democratic culture, Somalia’s recent history is not a far-fetched scenario for Eritrea’s near future.”
Wed eri: ‘Slogan without strategy will not achieved anything, As individual wedi Vacaro execute his goal what was missing delity fethi mobilizing the slogan into action.”
Response: The opposition camp’s unity is mandatory for our success. They all know that but still remain divided because there is no FOCAL POINT on how to do it. I can tell you time and again that democracy is the best choice we have and we should unite on that basis but nothing will change unless we specify the elements in writing through internationally acceptable standards or write a road map to democracy. The problem of this resistance is not necessarily refusal to unite but lack of written formula by which the forces can unite and work with each other with maximum trust and security. The movement may help overthrow the regime but I don’t think Vaccaro will be safe in Eritrea then after without a defined FOCAL POINT ahead of time. They will kill him. I, for instance, am not crazy to risk my life in Eritrea after the down fall of the regime. Anybody can kill me without a specified FOCAL POINT that guarantees my security as an Eritrean activist to safely stay in the country. You must understand by now that we Eritreans kill people (struggle and today’s experience) and I cannot trust any politician easily; only the law. There are fellow Eritreans within the resistance that don’t see me as a comrade but as a threat: I don’t trust them although they talk about democracy everyday without its specifications. Eritrea to me will remain impossible to live without a road map to democracy. I may celebrate the downfall of the regime in the US if I stay alive that long but would not dare even visiting it for a day without a written guarantee (the road map) for my safety. That is why I am focusing on the Accra Peace Accord that transited Liberia from dictatorship to democracy. I believe I will convince Eritreans on this and I am confident that I will complete it within this year with the help of few scholars already behind this project. I have already worked a substantial amount of load as we chat in this forum to start sharing it with people for opinion. Everybody will see it soon!
Yohannes Teclehaimanot: “This is a god sent man ” vacaro”. No doubt this golden opportunity must be seized and a collaborative effort by all Eritreans will definitely bring about the panacea for all our ills. It is now or never. I hope to see all media to focus on the current vacaro initiative and help assenna in disseminating a timely information to our people. We now see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Response: I do believe like that sometimes given the difficulties the struggle has been facing during the last ten years This movement is our movement and we are very lucky to have it. Vaccaro is in spiritual mission doing things that no Eritrean ever done in the past, God bless him. I wish the media focuses on the movement too but Eritreans have not grasped the advantage of supporting each other yet. Too much ego is in the way. The little attention he got in Asmarino and the almost nothing in Awate are disturbing indeed and I feel sad about the Eritrean people seeing these elites dragging the resistance by choosing to look from distance while they claim they were in the heart of the struggle. It is double standard or contradictory to say the least to keep silent on a popular movement of this caliber! I really don’t know what they want. Eritreans must stop personalizing national issues and open up to accept anything good to the resistance. I cannot imagine how activists can be silent about the popular movement that is shaking the regime tremendously: I think they suffer from JELOUSY, WHAT ELSE CAN STOP THEM FROM ASSISTING THIS HARD WORKING MAN OPENLY? Add up a little ego into that dormant mind, the whole thing focuses on the self instead of on the society. This grievance applies to many scholars including the EGS’s as well: we have not heard any solidarity message from them yet!
Shake: “Let’s have healing dialogue with each other regardless, age, gender, background::
lets close the gates of fear. We all have something to offer. Let’s not judge each other, when the people that should judged are those, who are humiliating, Eritrean everywhere. Regardless what their political stands are, none of those opposition parties committed bigger atrocities then the current gangsters.”
Response: Thank you very much for your constructive advice.
In conclusion, we Eritreans are a society as good as any other society on this planet. There are many societies still struggling to democratize themselves and we belong in this pool. Others have done it and we will do it in our country. Eritreans must be confident on this and do the right thing to make it. That is all we have to do. Let us please work on what is to be done because eliminating that system is piece of cake to us Eritreans who managed to survive out of the ashes by ourselves. We may have to scarifies few precious kids but that is what it takes to get rid of the problem should we assert our unity under a transitional formula that can be finalized this year. We don’t need an army to fight our national army in destroying this regime. I don’t think it will take us more than ten Commandos to disparage Asmara when we decide it is time for action. Trust me, let’s get there within this year first and you will see how simple it is! Relax and enjoy the ride from now on!

Brother, I feel like championing the unity with a red tape on our feet. We are just digesting the future dividend climatising our pockets. Once the dividend shared by all of us, definitely they will join the wagon unless they done their calculation wrong. For those who felt guilt conscious, we need to promise them that we will be lenient to their past providing that they jump on these popular struggle for justice. Otherwise, they should face justice. For those we think that we are oright, the yoke is light that we can manage for a bit longer, we need to remind ourselves with another Lampedus which appease no body but swallow. An open invitation for every one of us to join is a fair play.

    Ato Fitsum:
Your hard work is already showing some fruits and thank you for offering your brilliant brain to your beloved country’s public service and your relentless effort! What can anyone ask for more than this generous effort. Shout out to those highly critical individuals (you know who you are) on this forum as well.

  • KIfle Nerayo May 8, 2014

Mr. Futsum, My admire to your persistent effort to give life to the struggle. Vacaro has recognized the true venue to bring us all into one fold against the Dictator, and as you rightly followed it up and reminded us all to as well recognize the true initiative likely to unite every Eritrean and work towards the true goal of saving the people and country. However, I think it is too early to blame anyone, but commit ourselves to make more revealing achievements so that we will be able gain the trust of everyone, including those who are late believers. I say again, let us widen Vacaro’s achievement further and you will see every Eritrean in the fold. Thnk you,

    KIfle

Mr Fetsum, your messages are like wine – they dazzle readers gradually
and let them mature surely! Keep it up respected brother. The forces of justice
and democracy, at home and in Diaspora, have to link up and take the struggle to
the next logical stage. We should not give a breathing space to the forces of
dictatorship and reaction. We have to pull and push together as a team with a
national purpose and join on the minimum agenda of removing the regime and ushering
in the period of democratic transition by leaving the bigger decisions to the people
of Eritrea. Our unity and commitment to bring a fundamental relief to our people should
override minor and even major differences.

Please write it in Tigrigna, you are writing for no one as young generation could not understand you.

    • fetsum abrahamt May 9, 2014

      Zere;
You are very selfish to demand tigrigna stuff from me while you are just sitting out there throwing an advise as such. Do it urself if u are for real: Why do u want me to do it and how? What are u offering for that? do u understand that I am not ur slave and I dont care whether people read me or not. It is their business and I can only do what I can do. Nothing irritates me more than people telling me to kill myself overworking in this resistance by downloading their responsibilities on me.

  • Kalighe May 9, 2014

I want express my appreciation to our great ladies Genet and Selamawit2 for successfully challenging a guy nicknamed Tezareb to bring him to his senses and stop trying to demoralize Eritreans. I am proud of you. Please remain fully engaged in the on going debate to bring change to our beloved Eritrea. The cost of non-involvement is huge and terribly bad.

    • MightyEmbasoyra May 9, 2014

      I second to that, Kalighe!

    • selamawit2 May 12, 2014

Thank you very much brother Kalighe and brother Mighty!
Same to you, great gentlemen – and to the others justice seekers here in this forum.

Brother, calm down, teach and lecture for satisfaction, never get vex with syndrome, take them as normal and they will come to their sense. Some times, they see the twilight while they hovering around or asleep in that matter.
