HERE AND THERE

Dedicated to the struggle of the Eritrean youth for freedom from slavery

by Fetsum Abraham 2/26/13

Correction: I have learned from concerned Eritreans that I made a mistake in my last two articles writing (Brigadier Colonel Sied Ali Hjay (Wedi Ali)). There is nothing as “Brigadier Colonel” in the army and I am sorry for the mistake and thank you. But do you think I was also in a tranquilized state of mind (like someone I know back home) in this situation?

DUALITY

Existence swings like a pendulum

Peace confronts a crime; and dignity, a shame

Yesterday dies for this day to be born

Tomorrow shows up for today to pass on

One chases remedy forever; by denying the error

Nothing exists without a dual pair; no concept of joy without despair

No democracy without dictatorship

Expect no bliss without hardship

No freedom without betrayal, no truth without denial

But life is slipping away through ‘justice without trial’

Like nothing without Mother-Earth; no life, with no death

What is the purpose of your existence, if you don’t stand for the truth?

One’s you become, you got to live it out

Standing for the cause rather than your pride

Like for each success there is a mess..

For every sorrow, happiness;

Every trap has an exit; and darkness, a light

Stick to the fight, no matter how tight

Collapse to rise, feel sad to rejoice

This crisis is a chance, to change your existence

Challenge it as it comes, you ‘ain’t got no’ choice

Quote of the moment: The way ego inflates a weak person’s self-perception is like a kid deflating a balloon at the end of the game.

From the forum

I read some brothers and sisters persisting on ACTION rather than wasting time on writing. My first question: what action and who shall do it? The “someone has to do it and get it over with” is a terrible theory that only reflects a shallow understanding of life. It backfires putting the subject in the position of that ‘someone’. Why should someone do it for you; sacrifice for your freedom in Eritrea? Why do not you do it yourself? This is double standard and selfish in my opinion. The finger that pulls the anticipated trigger does not only have to come from Eritrea but from anywhere in the world as well: It takes one day to fly from the States to, or drive from NaQfa to Asmara; I close my case.

My next question: is not communicating through this platform an ACTION? You need to remember that we built Afwerki’s cult to the point he could do anything he wanted to do to the society. It took a very long time for us to peacefully confront him on the merit, though we knew something was terribly wrong in our country since a while ago. We gave fear, peace, obedience, respect, patience, manipulation, deception, endless excuses, humiliation and hope a chance silently accepting the anarchic whipping of Afwerkism for this long.

The fact remains that the amount of trust we gave him had to naturally come down to the ground first before the momentum could shift in favor of the resistance. This equilibrium has been reached as a result of betrayal, endless suffering and awareness, currently overpowering the opposite pair in the duality (blind supporters or Afwerkists).

I congratulate you all for this achievement!

The debris accumulated in the downfall of Afwerki’s cult, however, need to be cleaned today through dialogue, education, debate, solid united front absent pretension, fear, HASADNET, greed, opportunism and power struggle.

What is apparent is that the FORTO incident could not have originated from the top-rank of the army since members of this class can afford to live well in the country. The dissatisfaction-induced pressure must have started at the bottom level of the army stratum (the oppressed soldiers), where the dirty job is performed with very little money or unquestionable labor-camp slavery. The main actors; the upper class members of the army then felt the heat and exploded it at FORTO. This is the reason why Afwerki cannot defuse the movement permanently; this is not something you stop by eliminating the leaders of the FORTO uprising; specially considering that there were other army units in the deal as well, that did not make it there as planed. This tells me that the entire army is aware of the problem and alert to bring change at the right time.

The time of course has arrived as witnessed in FORTO, though it may not have gone the way it was anticipated. This experience will make it better next time. Don’t feel disappointed by this; rather get motivated to enjoy the show with confidence that the suffering of the people will stop one day soon, while taking advantage of the stalemate to learn the process by which DEMOCRACY will be reduced to practice in next Eritrea

This is the best time for the youth to involve and focus forward. The success is just around the corner and it is yours already. You know that no one can run the country worse than Afwerki but are you ready to reconstruct the society in a civilized fashion from now on?

Dear family; Things are going in favor of the RESISTANCE but no Rome was built in one day and no reason to be desperate. There is a homework we have to do individually in order for civilized leaders to evolve out of the process. Please participate without expectation for every individual is equally responsible in this challenge. Chill, relax, do your part and enjoy the flow without emotional distress. The hardest part was to get here; the rest is down the hill. This is the time for us to get mentally ready for the next challenge so that no other Eritrean will anymore manipulate the society the way the last two home grown sold-outs did (Tedla Uqbit and Issaias Afwerki).

You need to watch out for sneaking opportunists who can steal your freedom again, through participation. Emotion and impatience won’t hit the mark, only reason and time do. Keep your optimism reasonably intact, but don’t expect things in a hurry and from others. Believe it or not things cannot go on this way indefinitely and the natural development of our crisis will take care of the rest. Remember that you are throwing a brick away from the debris of Afwerkism in this final cleaning process through your input: exchanging ideas is as good as pulling the trigger!

Enjoy tour moment!

Action, with respect of our strugle to remove the Tigrai-Conspirator, Isaias Afewerqi, does not mean we have to kill each other. Absolutelty, No. It is short-sighted,counter-productive and it only benefits our eternal enemies to South of our border.

Those who burned down the Eritrean Community Centers in Sweden should be unambiguously condemned and any Eritrean who knows their identities should inform the local government. We are after all people of culture and civility, and this has to underly all of our activities. Temporary setbacks, frustrations should not sidetrack us into bestial behavior.

Our No.I objective is to protect and safeguard what we have so far achieved, the Independence of our country, which we should never underestimate and take for granted, never lose sight of under any circumstance. And the way we do that is through our constant vigilance on our unity in our ethnical, religious, ideological etc. diversities.

Mind you, these diversities are the cracks through which woyane and others are ceaseleslly and tirelesslly attempting to drive wedges between us to destroy us from within. And their approach is deceptive as the proverbial fox, and once their victim is in their jaws, they shed tears like crocodiles. “Qotsli Habi-Tselim Entai YetsL-L, Guana Fet-u-ni Elka Hawka Ayteql-l” is crux of the matter.

Our No.2 Objective is to help each other raise our political conciousnes; Diplomatic skills, develop disciplin in our conduct with each other and foreigners and aversion to corrpution etc.

Our No.3 Objective is to creat an independent Democraticaly constituted political organization that abides by the principles and Laws therein.

Our No.4 Objective is to remove the Tigrai-Conspirator, Isaias Afewerqi, peacefully and effectivelly and try him under Eritrean Justice System.

      Mehretu,

      Is this your brother?

“After 50 years, the people have realized that the independence struggle was wrong and that they were used as cannon fodder by the butchers of Nakfa and Barka. The very notion and concept of “Ghedli” has become unpalatable for the millions of Eritreans who had to endure decades of mayhem and bloodshed. The people know that these officers are part of the problem and not messiahs descending from the mountain or “Forto Baldisera” to rescue them. Eritreans know better and have expressed it silently by withholding support. If one cannot understand the silence and lack of adequate support to the attempted coup by Eritreans, then one cannot understand even if they speak out loud. ” —- Ghirmay Yeibio

        AA Yassin,

I am confused …ones you took away my Eritreanism & gave me Tigraway of Ethiopia citzen …& adviced me to learn tigrinya from Eritrean Amanuel & now you are echoing exactly my ” songs” .I am confused what you wanted to say ?

        • Dawit Meconen February 27, 2013

AA Yasin, if independence struggle was wrong, what was right? I just ask, but I want you to know, your view is extremely repulsive to me. Rest assured though, as in the past, we will remove the Tigrai-Conspirator, Isaias Afewerqi, and our Independence blossom and bow down with fruits. There is no doubt about that.

Mehretu Habte, your poems invariably express lamentations over the hard work young Eritreans are doing for their country. And as such you seem to miss the point because it is not the hard work that is the bone of contention. Remember that Eritrean tegadelti had worked much harder and under much worse circumstance than that to bring about Independence.

Besides, Eritreans in general are the embodiment of hard; they detest dependency on any body else . And this hard work can be a blessing in disguise because it can sweep-clean all the bad habits that Amhara colonialism had purposely inflitrated into our people’s way of life.

Therefore, hard work should not be lamented but the usurpation of our political system by a Tigrai-Conspirator, Isaias Afewerqi. He is the enemy, and to rooted him out, we must work our hardest. Poets and writers: expose his identity and his evil mission. On the contrary, exalt human right, democracy, freedom of speech, Unity, territorial Integrity and above all else, to fight for their right as if there is no tomorrow etc.

I like the phrase “Butcherers of Nakfa and Barka”, in deed they are.

    • Dawit Meconen February 28, 2013

      Belay nega,
quoting my statement, “Therefore, hard work should not be lamented but the usurpation of ourpolitical system by a Tigrai-Conspirator, Isaias Afewerqi, You wrote,
      ” DAWIT
THE HARD WORKING ERITREAN’S HABIT IS BEING PROGRESSED BY E.P.L.F UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF ESAYAS AFOWORKI.”

The evil scheme of the cunning Tigrai Conspirator,Isaias Afewerqi, was to destroy but he is unwittingly re-cultivating the good habit of hard work of our people the Amhara left no stone unturned to wipe out.

However that is not the only one, he has also been cultivating his own grave diggers, those whom he forced to flee their country. They have become his nightmares, to say the least.

    @ Seb
    1. All Eritreans love their country.
    2. If loving Eritrea is associated in any way with bending for hgdef, that LOVE is not in my dictionary
    3. You are right it is about the majority or chosen by the majority not hijacking the the majority and killing, imprisoning or silencing concerned citizens.
    4. Like you said, if the vast majority is in love with killers, it can only prove to me that LOVE is really blind.

“he has also been cultivating his own grave diggers,”

    LIKE WHO?

    • Dawit Meconen March 1, 2013

Remember that Amhara came to our country under cloak of linguistic, cultural, historical kinship, and our people, naive as usual, accepted them on the content of their lips. As soon as they got within us however, they dropped the kinship garb and went full speed to decimate us with whatever tool was at their disposal, of course with dire consequence, we laid them in the grave they dag for us.

Today, Tegaru are treading on the same road, using the same tool, and for the same objective. As a slave feel pride in himself just because his master is rich and powerful, Tegaru are behaving in the same way because they are within the skirt of the United States of America. But we know he who does not owe his existence falls apart when the support is suddenly removed from his underneath, just like what happened to Haile Selase, Dergi and many others.

      • belay nega March 1, 2013

THE PROBLEM IS NOT ABOUT AMHARA OR TEGARU

THE MARRIAGE BETWEEN USA AND ETHIOPIA WENT TOO FAR TO GET DIVORCE

THE MISTAKE OF E.L.F [UNDER NATIONALISM] WHICH WAS BEEN CORRECTED BY E.P.L.F IS SURVIVING THANKS TO ETHIOPIANS AS EVER WITH HELP OF SOME CORRUPTED ERITREANS.

THE WORLD IS STILL IGNORING US AS EVER BY NOT:

-IMPOSING ETHIOPIA TO ABIDE BY THE LAW

        – OPPOSING [CONDEMNING]WHEN ERITREAN EMBASSIES WERE BEING ATTACKED

        CONCLUSION

WE HAVE TO STOP LIVING ON A DAILY BASIS

WE HAVE TO LOOK RIGHT AND LEFT TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE BASE PROBLEM WE SUFFERING FROM

WHO ARE THE MAIN ACTORS OF OUR PROBLEM

WHAT IS THE COST OF GOING FORWARD/BACKWARD

STOP POINTING FINGERS AND CHEATING OUR PEOPLE
