Network of Eritrean women has sent a letter to all the delegates of member countries of The Human Rights Council.

In its letter Network of Eritrean Women appealed to the delegates in the HRC to endorse the findings and recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry.

It has also stressed that the violations are committed far from the eyes of the international community; in prisons, military camps and areas where journalists do not have any access to. In addition it sites that some of the harrowing crimes committed against women include rape, domestic servitude, forced disappearance of mothers and wives as a form of reprisals leaving emotional and physical scars on individuals and the society.

The Network of Eritrean women urges the delegates from the respective countries within the HRC to support the Eritrean people at this critical juncture, by putting pressure on the Government of Eritrea to put an eminent end to all forms of human rights abuses. The network also urges all delegates to endorse the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry on Eritrea in order to ensure that the perpetrators who have committed crimes against humanity are brought to justice.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are endowed by their creator with inalienable rights. That’s a beautiful creed”. Martin Luther King.

You are right Eden, no one was fooled like the Eritreans. from 1991 up to 1997 there has been countless injustices committed against Ethiopians who were living in Eritrea. Then came the bombing of Ayider elementary school in Makelle. not only did Eritreans gave a blind eye to all the atrocities committed up until 1997 but the diaspora devils even open champagne in cheers up on hearing the massacre of the School kids. if you go back a little farther in 1984 during that extreme period of war and famine the devils from Nakfa hideout ordered the blockage of a life saving corridor through Sheraro to Gash barka at least 1500 babies and children died on the spot with in few days and remain barried on the sand there. Eritreans gave it a blind eye all along, “not for us is for them” not knowing a disaster of biblical proportion was awaiting for them. “an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice every where” was manifesting itself back then but was blinded by narrow nationalism. It is sad and unfortunate historical encounter to the ordinary people.
