“How Old is Our Youngest Leading Official?” (Abdalla Al-Maqlush, the Saudi Al-Watan Newspaper, January 2011)

The quotation above was the title of an Arabic article I had the opportunity to read from the Saudi newspaper, Al-Watan, in January 2011. The article was written by Abdalla Al-Maqlush, the former writer of the column Opinion. Describing the courageous, frank and downright factual writer as “the former writer of the column Opinion” is due to the fact that he was immediately fired because he wrote and published the article.

The Washington branch of the Eritrean national Commission for Democratic change congratulates Eritrean Youth Global Movement – EYGM for its 2nd congress, held on March 11th, 2011 – Las Vegas, USA.

Engagement with the failing dictators is an exercise doomed to fail before it begins”

The International Crisis Group report on Eritrea recently published in the media under the title, “ Eritrea may become failed state. “ warned the international community to engage with the dictatorship that is uncooperative.

We, Eritrean Youth for Change in the Bay Area, are very much disturbed by the interview of President Isayas Afeworki (PIA) conducted with Al Jazeera International on 20 February 2010. The interview was conducted at a time when Eritrea is under UN imposed sanction. The interview was watched by millions of Eritreans and the rest of the world. It was embarrassing to Eritreans and friends of Eritrea when PIA was immobilized by simple and straight forward questions posed by the journalist.

The international order has finally caught up with the struggle of the Eritrean people be it for a secondary reason. Finally IGAD, AU and the UN share the same consensuses. UNSC’s smart sanction on the Eritrean regime is a welcome contribution to clarifying an aspect of the brutal regime’s reprehensible behavior. It addresses part of the challenges faced by the Eritrean people.

Fellow Eritreans we have a big task ahead of us and it is mostly the duty of us who live in the Diaspora to carry this burden. Let us not fight for power because the death of HGdef is approaching, let us instead fight for unity. If we are divided as we are now, Iseyas will prevail. The young and the old, women and men from all segments of society and representing all the ethnic groups in Eritrea must join hands to eradicate HGDEF.
