TeklemariamAtapuerca (Burgos), Spain – The IAAF Cross Country Permit Series 2010/11 got underway today (7) with a magnificent spectacle at the 7th ‘Cross Internacional de Atapuerca’ which witnessed the shock defeated of both World Cross Country champions as Kenyans Joseph Ebuya and Emily Chebet were beaten by Eritrea’s Teklemariam Medhin and Ethiopia’s Genzebe Dibaba respectively on a cold and very windy day.

Members of the Eritrean National Commission for Democratic Change met on October 22, 2010 with US State Department officials at the State Department office in the Washington DC.  Commissioners Teklai Abraha and Kibrom Debru met with the officials to discuss the current developments in the Eritrean situation, specifically focusing on the recently concluded National Conference for Democratic Change.

Dawit Journalist Dawit Isaac has been in prison in Eritrea for nine years. This week his brother, Esayas Isaac told the Swedish Foreign Ministry and the European Union that they are legally obliged to do everything possible to secure his release. The Eritrean Community Center of Santa Clara County is organizing a networking event for recent arrival Eritrean refugees from camps in Ethiopia. The event is this Friday September 17 at 6pm in our new center, located at 1998 Homestead Road #115, Santa Clara, Ca 95050.  The new center will have a grand opening ceremony on October 3 starting at 3:00 PM.

Our primary concern is, given the ongoing differences within EDA, the nagging question whether this conference could  really live up to its full potential and craft a vision that will be able to unify the people and marshal the full strength of the political opposition and civic society.
