(Cairo 12-05-2011) Eritrean refugees in Egypt continue to face major obstacles according to reports from Release Eritrea volunteers in the region. The volunteers who have been working to support Eritrean immigration detainees report that,  in the weeks since the revolution in Egypt, little has changed for the better for the Eritrean asylum seekers and refugees currently there.

Agenzia Habeshia, EveryOne Group, Human Rights Concern Eritrea and Christian Solidarity Worldwide today sent a joint appeal to the UN, the EU, the British, the Italian and the Egyptian governments for urgent intervention in the plight of refugees from Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia who are currently held hostage in the Sinai Desert by Bedouin people traffickers.

(Geneva, October 8, 2010) – Egypt, the new chair of the UN refugee agency’s governing body, should immediately end its policy of shooting foreign nationals trying to cross from Egypt into Israel, Human Rights Watch said today in a letter to the Egyptian authorities.

The event is this Friday September 17 at 6pm in our new center, located at 1998 Homestead Road #115, Santa Clara, Ca 95050.  The new center will have a grand opening ceremony on October 3 starting at 3:00 PM.
