NAIROBI, May 13 (Reuters) – Mining companies should be deterred from working in Eritrea and banned from raising capital or listing their securities in the United States due to Eritrea’s rights abuse record, a U.S.-commissioned report said. The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) said Eritrea’s systematic violation of religious freedoms should mean prohibitive restrictions for foreign firms joining the nation’s impending gold mining boom.

The friends of Asena of Boston has started fund raising prior to receiving a call from friends of Asena of North America.  These energetic group of youngsters with fellow brothers and sisters are strong supporters of Asena.  They have been collecting funds to support the freedom of press.  Now they are encouraging all residents of Boston and surrounding to support their efforts to fund raise for Asena.  You can reach them by calling Hager at 617-777-7872.  The group will collect money till October 17.  Don’t let the freedom of press die again.

The first report was published in 2005 reviewing developments in the implementation of human rights in Eritrea since its liberation.
