    Thank you Amaniel,

I saw you before as a journalist only, however you are also a brilliant thinker. Your presentation in the Australian seminar and your comments on the opinions and your responses to the questions were excellent. People should know that you are still working voluntarily as you did when you were only nine years only when you joined Shaebia.
Those of us who ask you to do more should ask ourselves what have I done? How many hours of my time and money did I give? How many years of time and energy is Amaniel and Assenna spending with out any rest?

      geje,

you do not need to give up. eritrea is culturally rich and multi ethnic nation with nine ethnic groups, the Tigre and Tigrinya making 85% of Eritrea. some people do not know Eritrea or some of them do not want to know the true Eritrea with real people such as the Kunama, Afar, Bilen … people exist with distinct identity with every natural right to protect their own ethnic identity.
I will not be surprised if someone rootless ignorant who grew up in Kidanemhret-shuq of Asmara or shuq keren defining Eritrea in two religions only. such people do not know who they are or they are trying to cover up their true identity.

      geje said,

“I gave up on Eritrea long ago, when I heard a would be opposition member who went to Keren as a child from Wukro – Tigray told the people of Keren that they should not use Tigre or Bilen languages except Arabic.
      ….
Eritreans should be ready re-design their nation. If Somalia, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Sudan and Libya are failed states or semi failed states, then Eritrea’s fate will not be better.
There are more than 30 so called opposition movements who hate each other, and some hate their own languages, identity and history to become somebody else.

It is hard to swallow but it the fact on the ground.”

Eritrea under fire for rights abuses at UN review

    (AFP) – February 4, 2014

Geneva — Enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention and torture were just a few of the violations Eritrea was accused of during a UN review of its human rights record Monday.

Diplomats gathered at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva condemned the isolated and autocratic country’s brutal repression of basic rights, charging the lack of freedom was prompting a mass exodus.

The government of Eritrea’s “widespread violation of human rights and the lack of prospects for participatory democracy contribute to large numbers of Eritreans fleeing the country,” US representative Peter Mulrean told the assembly.

He was echoing the concerns of many of the 70 state representatives who spoke at Eritrea’s so-called Universal Periodic Review, which all 193 UN countries must undergo every four years.

Chile and others urged the country to probe all reports of enforced disappearances, Denmark said it had done far too little to eliminate torture, while Estonia lamented the “disregard of freedom of expression.”

Tesfamichael Gerahtu, Eritrea’s ambassador to Britain, batted away the slew of charges, insisting that if anything was limiting human rights in Eritrea, it was the “unjustified sanctions” imposed on the country by the international community.

Sara wekaria, wey gud you are trying to be more Eritrean than Amanuel, that’s not going to happen. Amanuel has spent all his young life in meda and contributed to free our beloved country. Now he is working hard to have rule of law in Eritrea, so our jeganu such as G15 can be served with justice, because they are innocent antil proven guilty. most Eritrean people understands the human rights abuses that is practiced in our country, but we still will not criticize Esayas’s rule openly because we need to see our loved ones still at home. I was a member of EPLf and I have worked hard to do the best in all the duties that was allocated to me. Now I am working as a nurse I visit my grandfather often who is very old and fragile that gives me great satisfaction when I see him smile. When I went to Eritrea last month I have seen so many hardships and injustices the people are suffering from. So i felt guilty for not helping people like Amanuel who are still working for their people’s freedom and rights. As for U Sara wash your mouth with soap to be cleaned up (you need to perform urgent oral hygiene),otherwise you will be smelling like rotten egg form miles away. Or go see your Dr as antipsychotic drugs might help to stabilize your brain.

One of the comments of the seminar by an older man reminded me the demands of the “qolama hizboch” with the likes of Mahmood Lobinet, Omer Siraj and another third man pleading the Mengistu regime that they be given autonomy under Ethiopia and be allowed to be treated as “Ethiopian Arabs”.
The question is that what would happen to the ethnic Tigre, Bilin or Afar ?
