I do not get it. If in fact the ENCDC had adopted a resolution to ban merger of Eritrean nationalities, how would that affect the Jeberties?
Jeberties at this point in time are not a separate Eritrean nationality nor do they have any compelling argument that would qualify their claim.

    • SINGAPO-ERIREAN January 22, 2012

      Weredemihret,
Sorry , I misunderstood you. You are just inquiring . So, please disregard the emotional response on my part .However it applies to other Tigrigna Eritreans ,who try to shove their “facts” on other ethnics .
      thank you

  • SINGAPO-ERIREAN January 22, 2012

    Weredemihret,
What are you basing your argument on ? do you have historical fact to support your “opinion” in a form of a fact “…have you read how the Jebertis define their identity ? How about the Tigrigna speaking people in the kebessa ,should n´t they be Tigrawot instead of that made up biher “Hizbe Tigrigna”..Afars do not call themselves “Hizbe Afar ” their tribe extends upto Djibouti, the min´Amir in Sudan or Eritrea do not call themselves “Hizbe Min´Amir “.Now ,whether it is based on fact or fiction like “Hizbe Tigrigna” why can not it be extended to the Jebertis ,????? As a “Hizbe Tigrigna” from central Eritrea,How does it affect me if Jeberti call themelves ,Rambo or Denzel tribe, let alone with their true identity , Jeberti . And a Jeberti should not care if I call myself a special breed ,as in “special olympics.”

    • HGDF January 24, 2012

Jeberti are jeberti I don’t understand what they need recognition for. Eritrea has 9 ethnic groups mainly based on clearly recognised language and tradition. I don’t see the difference from tigrigna when it comes to the Jebertis. They are just tigrigna muslims as we have bilen muslims, tigre christians, and Kunama muslims and christians. I don’t believe that they have a different tradition from tigrigna people except using some muslim traditions as all muslims in other parts of the world do. And I don’t believe that all jeberti have the same ancesstory either. Some of them were Tigres or Sahos who lost their language and tradition due to proximity or migration to tigrigna areas. It doesnt matter what you call some one. what matters is what makes some one different from others. Tigriga people are tigrigna people no matter what they call them in Ethiopia and Eritrea. The same with Hdareb/Hadenduwa. I don’t think that the jebertis are seen as differen from the Tigrians in Ethiopia except for their religion. When it comes to culture and origin the jebertis in Tigray are more homogenous than ours.

        • Mr. T January 24, 2012

          Jemal,

Let me get you onto the right track. You seem to confuse two issues that are remotely unrelated. If you are talking about the Tigrayan Tegaru and the Eritrean Tigrigna population and asking why they are not together, well, that is an issue of two nations separated by international borders. There are many Arab countries with identical ethnic groups but they are separated by international borders as well. Now let me ask you why the Egyptian Christians and the Muslims are not separate ethnic groups even though they are separated by centuries of religious difference? The same applies to all the Christian Arab minorities and the Muslim Arab majorities in each nation of the Arab world. You need to admit that the Jebertis are part and parcel of the Tigrigna ethnic group. Some of them are recent converts to Islam and others were converted some centuries ago. They are not different from the any ethnic group that has Christians and Muslims adherents in it. The Bilin (Christians/Muslims), Tigre (Muslims/Christians), the Saho (Muslims/Christians) and the Kunama are some examples. Stop playing with fire because it may be its first victim if you keep tampering with the time tested Christian-Muslim Eritrean harmony.

            respond to Mr. T
Mr. T ; I think you are the one seem to be confused i believe. But; before i say any thing i really want to suggest you to read the history of Chaluk; Maluk anf Faluk.
And secon ; is there a country call Eritrea before all colonialist .But jeberti was in Eritrea 1400years a go.
Yes u areright when you said two separate country not by international borders ;But by the colonialists why ? to be contune….

          • jemal January 25, 2012

            Mr.T
Ok ; Why the colonialist did that a good quation ? they did it because to their to benefit thier interst with out considering to the people who live by bordiring country.they didn’t do it only Eritrea actually they did it almost the whole Africa and some Asia and so on who use to live under colonialist adminestration ; so

Don’t try to create artificial Biher

  • Ahmed saleh January 23, 2012

To all those who refuse to accept the fact that pure Eritreans at this stage of time would not give
a damn to hear political ideology, get over it.

    • ahmed saleh January 23, 2012

With my due respect to all religons, regions and ethnic groups, I demand earnestly to all peace and progress loving Eritreans not to fall down on the process of democratic change. Possesive ideas is disasterous, give priority on responding to the plight of our people sufferings and the painfull stories of our youth misery. Get to our senses and mind what is best way on people’s demand to alternatives for change to the better. It is shame to talk about our own self-concerned agendas from our comfortable life when the other part of us are looking for answers to their plight. Truth to be told all of us disregarding our back-ground are victims of this regime at this moment. Do not forget we fought together as brothers and sisters with care and love to eachother.

  • Mr. T January 23, 2012

The only party that has so far declared “victory” (see their last month’s meeting in Saudi Arabia) right after the Awassa merchant’s meeting is the Nahda Party: a party that is trying to establish a Jeberti Nationality right at the center of the highlands of Eritrea. The next plan, as we are told, is now which city (Mendefera or Adi-Quala) to choose as their capital. Arabic is already selected as their official language for communication and as a medium of education. Congratulations!

    • ahmed saleh January 23, 2012

      Mr. T
Leave the issue to honest Eritreans to resolve on positive manners. You already
had been evaluating us with all religious and regional accusations so stay to the
corner on this topic because nothing substantial idea will come out of you.

      • Mr. T January 23, 2012

        ahmed saleh,

You never fail to amaze me. How could I “stay to the corner” while you are trying to bring me a greater evil than PFDJ’s rule? Maybe you never heard of the phrase “self protection”. Moreover, “honest” is a relative term, and no one doubts, save the supporters of the opposition, that the people you called “honest Eritreans” are in fact the most most dishonest and wicked. So my dear bro, it is high time you accept that people like me are not going away. We are here to expose the barbaric woyane and its fuselage Eritrean “kedemti” if you will. CHEERS!

        • jemal January 27, 2012

          Mr. T
you said i am tring to pull you where ? how far can you go i like to see that .But; any way; you should thanks us because if we didn’t start Eritrea for Eritreans libertion front ; you would ‘ve still live Eshi ; Ehse gotie ; Eshi ; Eshi goitay ..

  • dg gsdgd January 24, 2012

Jeberti is not an ethnic group. It is just a name to describe muslim converts…thats all. Jeberti are from the tigrinya tribe. Religion doesnt determine ethnicity…culture and customs do. So stop all that non-sense of jeberti being a tribe.

    • jemal January 25, 2012

Respond to dggs what ever your name is……………………..

I think you are a norrow minded ; and i think you should find out where you come from yoursef .hahahahahahah…………

      • dg gsdgd January 25, 2012

dont be a fool! You need to learn what the word means and where it originated from! Eritrea has 9 ethnic groups. You dont see christians in tigre claiming a different ethnic because they are part of a group which is dominated by muslims. Like i said just because you are muslim doesnt mean you are a different ethnic group. Asha

        • Jemal January 26, 2012

          respond to dg gsd
Ata donkoro we are not arguing only the name it self .what we are taliking about is about tradion ; custom and in some of we the words we use which by vast tigrigna speakers don’t .for example ; we don’t dress our cow Ethiopian flg; we don’t swear zeban Haleselasea ;we don’t cover our tent in Ethiopian flag when we have weding cermony ; we never said we are andent. and ;even if we want be called jeberti whats different does make to you .let say if your name dg if uwant be called IT or PT who cares.
So all we want is a repersentative ; to represent us and play a roll in in hgerawi guday like any other ethnick roll in

          • dg gsdgd January 26, 2012

your ethnic is tigrinya!!!! you are represented. dont be misled and think you are not tigrinya. your traditions, customs, culture, clothing, way of life is the same thing! your language is tigrinya. once again your religion doesnt dictate your ethnic group…all the things i just mentioned do

          • Mr. T January 26, 2012

            Jemal,

Now you are going too far. I know you are trying to pull us to your level. If the people your are trashing as “andnet, hailessilasie and so forth” did not stoop up against Ethiopia and eventually paid the ultimate price to liberate Eritrea, you would not have been talking here now about your dream of creating a Jeberti nationality at the heart of highland Eritrea. To tell you the truth, I blame our parents and grandparents for their incredible tolerance and generosities when I see now your callous behavior. Now is not the time to act like a real man. That time was in the seventies and eighties. Where were you then? Stop pushing people to act like your filthiness.

talk in the Jeberti tigrigna” do you beleave this is true? What is your opinion abuot Jebert? Do you beleave Jeberti is not Bhere Tigrigna? if the Jeberti have their oun Tigrigna can you write me one sentens in JEBERTIGNA? And can you explain me what is the criteria of BHER?
    Diana

    • Ahmed saleh January 24, 2012

Diana Guam gezawtey, why you ask me this question is that because of your irrational judgment because of my Moslem name ASMRINO born and raised, you gave me a title as their spokesman, wake up sister, you directed that question to me before. Stop being judgemental to the ethnic identities , my Eritreanism is enough and be easy. I do not appreciate that at all. If you have a will in to discussions follow my posting and respond not to that crap of yours, sorry to say that though.

      • jemal February 8, 2012

you are just trying to play double standard hasawi .you said that as you are our spkes man .meaning you are trying to tell you are not jeberti .we can handel our case we don’t want you ;ata sahab gemel.

  • weredemihret January 25, 2012

    Singapo,
We know for fact that Italians imposed upon highland villagers to accept the Jeberties as members of their respective villages. Not for humanitarian reasons as one might think given the Jeberties were victims of religious persecution back then .

But the Italians thought that the new settlers with some blacksmith and handcraft skills would serve them in admin and intelligence apparatus in controlling the highlanders.

  • Taddesse T Gebremussie January 25, 2012
