Several Saudi media outlets confirm, three Eritrean officers who crossed the Red Sea on board of an Eritrean military aircraft claimed political asylum in Saudi Arabia today after landing at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Air Port, in Jazan.
The aircraft was monitored by the Saudi Air Force as soon as it entered the Saudi air space and reports indicate that Security at the air port had been tight during the incident.
Although personal details of the three officers are not made available yet, their asylum request is being considered by the Saudi authorities.
In the past, several Eritrean Air Force pilots and officers have defected the dictatorial regime in Asmara in a similar fashion. Recently, Eritrean female pilot Captain Rahwa Gebrekristos claimed asylum in Saudi after she was sent to bring back an Eritrean Aircraft which had been left at the Jazan air port by pervious absconders.

This is a right time for all Eritreans in Saudi Arabia to reconsider their situation and the Saudi’s do the right thing and excuse all Eritreans who lived all their life in Saudi Arabia. because The Eritrean regime is outrageous and barbaric . Therefor if the Saudi’s sent all those Eritreans to the regime, ether will kill them or throw them in jail for the rest of their life. so please our dearest brothers and beloved neiboughrs please do the right thing. Well….what else is left for the government to do (Are the pilots also copy cat of the soccer team)….It might be easy for us “Cyber-hawks” to comment on everything but I just cannot stop from thinking that – what is the government in Eritrea thinking? Are they really this low that they cannot simply see the writings on the walls? cannot see “the forest for the trees”? Are these leaders really the one who brought Freedom to Eritrea? Is this how they lead the fight?
My prediction is another sectarian right in Eritrea, yes it is a fact. The winds of such talk has been in the making it just needs a match. Well, one might say impossible – but all other things has happened in Eritrea. Yes sectarian friction along the line of historical (1950′) is in the making….
I think now that most of the leaders are too old to even think of departing the leadership role. They are hanging to it like life saver and their “future excuse – we did not know PIA was the only one who knew ain’t going to work” Depart now or face it once the pillars start to crumble baddy.
What would the many lives who gave their dearest blood to this would say if they would walk up one day….that is if they would walk up from their grave….I would not want too personally….
