The state Eritrea is in:
The people of Eritrea are subjected to extreme human rights violations by PFDJ; the institution of the family is put under extreme pressure as the most productive member of the family is forced to work for free under the Warsay and Yekealo development project for an indefinite period of time.

Sanctions are as hard to impose as they are to receive them. The UN often agonizes before punishing one of its own members even when it is a deserving regime like Eritrea. There were endless talks about sanctions and mere threats thereof for a few years now in the unlikely hope that the Asmara regime would come to its senses where it did not have any.

The Forum that won many nicknames before it even began left participants with hope.  It has been called an historic conference, never done before. Even coordinators won nicknames: risk takers, visionaries, concerned citizens, dreamers and so on.  What matters the most, after all, for organizers and the attendees was accomplishing one objective: bringing these communities together to talk about their common future.

“One man’s transparency is another’s humiliation”Gerry Adams

Who could forget the heinous article from the notorious ehdefawit  Sofia Tesfamariam against Saleh Gadi.  The allegations she stated against him in her article, “Asmara Rose Responds to Saleh Gadi and the Awate Team” were not just unfounded but intolerant in our culture.  Her article sent shivers in the cyber community that mobilized many of us to give a lesson to PFDJ thugs in the land of law.

There seems to be a lot of confusion on the status of the rule of law in Eritrea.

This confusion contributes towards the opposition being at odds with each other, extends a life support system to the oppressive political order of the People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ) and finally, it baffles the international democratic forces and discourages it from lending an effective and valuable targeted support to the Eritrean  people.

The Brushless Saga never goes away. I was about to write an article regarding Eritrean singers – “Bere’na Tiyt Entekoynu, Meleketkum Medfe’ iyu”. As the title indicates, I intend to highlight their remarkable role in the past 4-5 decades in sustaining Eritrean nationalism and how their influential task and powerful voice mobilized the Eriteran people to fight for freedom.

In 1992, an old Eritrean lady came to Asmara, Eritrea from New York city in the United States. She was one of countless Eritreans who were returning or coming for the first time after Independence. But she was special and want an audience with the then Provisional and the now president for life Issias Afewerki. The old lady, Adey Desta, was a legend among Eritreans in the United States and New York area. She was like a mother to many Eritrean Immigrants and she helped a lot of people.

A friend of mine from the area where I live who was as frustrated as many of us by the negative reaction of some Eritreans to the EEPA Conference in Brussels said “ I bet if we were delivered Eritrea free of the dictator today, right now you would see all kinds of people from the opposition coming out of the woods to register their objection to the offer.” That statement is a precise description of the conduct we are witnessing these days.

I do not believe and I must not that such ridiculous and groundless accusations were been conceived in pure Kunama’s mind. But, as a matter of the argument let us consider as act of a puppet one, if that is case let me ask him the following questions:

The majority of the liberation fronts and rebel groups that sprouted in the Third World, in the Fifties, Sixties and after, had been known for their admiration of Maoist and Marxist philosophies, and for nations committed to those philosophies, therefore, they saw very little or no virtue in the Western style of democracy, which is based on free press, democratic elections, and three separate branches of government: the legislative, executive and judiciary.

This message is from Eritrean Kunamas who live in North America. We are sending this message believing that you would take it seriously and seek a solution for its ending. Before saying what we want, it should be born in mind that it is not victory but shame for us Kunama to be in America because of the crisis in our country.

The conference organized by EEPA( Externa European policy advisory) to align the US and EU policy on democracy and human rights abuse in Eritrea is a solidarity action for humanity and is welcome by the Eritrean people. International support and advice is a human action and must be appreciated. If the conference purpose is to bring all the actors in the region/ Horn of African countries, in case of Eritrea those invited are only members of the CIDRIE and a leader from Eritrean political organizations/ EPP, EDP and EPM.

The Italians build more towns in the highlands. They were mostly small but they were true urban nucleus, trading centres, homes of craftsmen, gold smiths, shoe makers, shop keepers, tailors etc. The highlands were enabled to acquire modern urban culture and brought about the birth of the working class, administrators, lawyers and various other professions.

Dear Sir/Madam, We are writing to your respected Council to highlight and demand a proper investigation in the tragic death of 73 Eritrean asylum seekers who recently lost their lives in the Mediterrennean while trying to reach the shores of Southern Europe (Italy) in search of protection, freedom and a dignified life.
