The two-day London Conference looking at how a free and democratic Eritrea might emerge in the future was a fascinating, exhilarating and challenging event. It heard from Eritreans from a range of backgrounds and many viewpoints. There were inputs from experts – Eritrean and international – who have worked on and thought about the country and its people for many years. It was an entirely positive event, which makes the negative response of the Eritrean government as sad as it is predictable. Instead of welcoming discussions about the options that are now emerging, it has attempted to belittle and dismiss. Yemane Ghebremeskel – Minister of Information – responded to the Conference by attacking Baroness Kinnock.

I have negative reaction, too. Because it was not inclusive and diverse and nobody knows who is funding the NGO. Eritrean problem should be solved by Eritreans only. We don’t need any white man to teach us how to govern or overthrow dictator Isaias Afwerki. Down to dictator, no to puppet opposition.

Amine, your answer for the funding question is right there,if you accept the invitation and are willing to contribute in the process, that is where the core of diversity lies not on the proportion of how many of the ethnic groups were present in the conference. It is just a CONFERENCE not an electoral college, “We don’t need any white man to teach us how to govern or overthrow dictator Isaias Afwerki.” hmmm..it is hard for me to comment on this one before I know who is ‘us’,it has only been over half of a century of him.

In the end, the world is watching us and it is becoming evident the strength and civility of a people is measured by how long the leader holds on to power.

It is good to be critical but remember diplomatic reasons demand support from other nationals, while of course maintaining your independence.

Yemane whatever may be pressing the FEAR button by now to come out of his hideouts and say something out of tune with reality. Well, let them keep on crying WEYANE for every mess they do but we must continue doing what we have to do and dispose them for good in favor of a democratic government through a neutral transitional government. Eritrea Focus must do its duty carefully and transparently to attract many people and make a difference in the country. There is no exclusive Eritrean style of democracy but, of course an Eritrean version based on the universal concept of democracy that takes its unique realities into account and one that blends well with other democratic transitions specially in Africa. I hope we all will have our says here through research oriented thesis and I fully support the initiative without hesitation believing we will do it right this time with the intellectual power in the group. I strongly suggest a hybrid transitional government based on the LIBERIAN and SOMALIAN experience in and God bless this development to the end. We are with you all the way as long as you stay connected with the people all the way. Please release the information pertaining the event in full as soon as possible without worrying about the Charlies and the Monkies in Asmara. But I believe this s the most exciting experience in the struggle for democracy in Eritrea.

To the useless Dawit and uqbai u are looking for practical input and this group is providing it. What is practice to you yet wizout any capacity to figure it out because of ignorance or unconditionally slaving to z system. And u have Z ignorant gut to criticize the assenna family for unproductivity and in comparison to ur contribution? Get out of here and z sooner z better because the good for nothing in adi allo is already out of z picture wiz z Monkies, Charles, kishas, usmams and rifrafs like u.

By z way, zer is no white man here but the universal understanding of democracy. As far as my brother Don Connel is concerned he is an Eritrean tegadalai in practice more zan z disclaimers in this forum. I rather have him z president rather than that looser of the best opportunity a human being can get in life to positively impact society. And we know an Eritrean will replace him though I believe any good human being can do z job as well. Thank you brother Don Connel for everything u did to your Eritrean people and God bless u. But do u think u have to paint urself black to convince the people zat u we’re spiritually Eritrean by circumstantial actuality?

No matter whether it is inclusive or not it is a good progress forwards that needs our support and contiribution well done those who made it. I am sure it will have impact on the group of gangs in Asmara.

In the end please target the gangs in asmara democrucy is a process and we will prove that with time. Now it’s all about finding recognition from the international community.
