GENEVA (18 September 2018) – The peace agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia raises hopes that human rights will be at the centre of Eritrea’s path towards a society respectful of all fundamental rights, says the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea, Sheila B. Keetharuth.

The leaders of the two countries signed a Joint Declaration of Peace and Friendship on 9 July 2018. They have reaffirmed it on several occasions since then, raising expectations that the end of the ‘no war, no peace’ stalemate between the countries would impact positively on Eritrea’s internal human rights situation.

This is just the usual deceptive tactic often used by the UN whenever it wants to dumb all documented crimes committed by dictators like Issais into the bin. Assenna.come, I understand why would you choose to report such garbage wishful thinking from the UN, perhaps you might want to serve your professionalism as journalists, but don’t let the lazy “opposition” to use this report as an excuse to relax and sleep, tell them that there is no way reform will come to Eritrea as long as Issais is around. The UN is a crisis and chaos management unit, it will do everything to appease Issais like it did to many dictators in the past at expense of all their victims, it doesn’t bother how many people were violently raped or murdered, the UN will continue to draw its appeasement card to bring Issais close to the Saudi and Ethiopian thugs and none about the untold humanitarian tragedies of Eritreans.

We know it mike. I believe the opposition too knows it b/s they know iseyas better than us the common people. But they have to post it but warn the UN itself about the past and present and that yesterdays crimes can not be reversed or cleared unless forgiven through genuine reconcilation process.. Even the UN is only expressing hope.

War is awful, war is cruel,
    For politicians, it’s a tool.
They fight for control, fight for land,
Some just need a helping hand.
    Sometimes views and ideas vary,
Doesn’t mean, hate we should carry.
Instead, lets choose peace and unity,
    That focuses deeply on socieity.
War and peace, opposite sides along,
Not blame others, for being wrong
    Wars and conflicts cease totally,
    We embrace peace, through humanity.
Wars make our children so much tougher,
Lose their innocence, while they suffer.
Peace is what we all seek,
When we lack it, we feel weak.
Peace is something we can’t buy,
We won’t catch it from the sky.
Peace is something we mutually share,
For it is just, and always fair.
When we find it, peace is sweet,
It shall make our life complete.
When there’s harmony, there is peace,
Joy on our region does increase.
For peace to grow in our society,
The first step is social unity.
We all know that healthy relations,
Are the keys to peaceful nations.
War and conflicts, we must avoid,
So that beauty of life, may be enjoyed.
We just need to open our hearts,
    That’s where peace clearly starts.
It’s not that difficult to embrace and find,
With a caring and open mind.
Peace brings freedom that we crave,
From great stress, it shall save.
One main thing, it does assure,
We’ll feel at ease and secure.
    Peace brings friendliness and joy,
It is sacred, not a toy.
    Rooted deeply in respect,
    Justice, human rughts must protect.
    Peace brings us tranquility,
Along with much needed – stability.
    Sense of quiet, and goodwill,
Peace is serene and very still.
    Inner peace; wish to attain,
Peace of mind, one shall gain.
    Spiritually and Mentally,
    Won’t be achieved accidentally.
    Conscious enlightenment, ultimate goal,
Living life to the fullest; being whole.

    Knowledge shall help one understand,
That inner peace is truly grand.
The beauty of it, is the lack of suppress,
    Bliss and happiness, shall possess.
One must know, oneself quite well,
To attain a healthy, internal shell.
So we should fight for peace instead,
Love not war, we should spread
    Since it’s rooted deep inside,
With our peace, we’ll much closely tied
