April 18, 2013 (ADDIS ABABA) – The Eritrean government said this week that it supports Egypt’s stance over a colonial-era treaty that granted Egypt a right to utilise the lions share of Nile river’s water resources.

The Red Sea nation expressed its support in a message sent from the Eritrean president and delivered to Egypt’s president by Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs, Yemane Gebreab.

The Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi, has highly welcomed Eritrea’s position towards Egypt’s “historic rights” over the sharing of the water of the Nile River.

Morsi said that he looks forward to meeting his Eritrean counterpart.

Although Ethiopia is the source of 85% of the Nile’s water, downriver countries, Egypt and Sudan, use 51 billion and 18 billion square meters a year respectively, around 90% of the Nile’s resources.

In April 2010, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania signed a new agreement in Entebbe, Uganda, to overturn a colonial-era treaty seeking a more reasonable and equitable utilisation of the river.

The deal was approved after Burundi later signed the agreement and joined the group in March 2011.

Newly-independent South Sudan has not yet signed the Cooperative Framework Agreement but it has also rejected the 1959 Nile water agreements between Sudan and Egypt.

Downstream countries of Egypt and Sudan have, however, dismissed the deal, saying the agreement is insignificant because it did not include all Nile basin countries.

Egypt has in the past warned against construction of further dams along the Blue or White Nile’s.

One year after the Cooperative Framework Agreement was signed; Ethiopia launched the construction of a massive $4.8 billion dam on the Blue Nile River raising protests from Sudan and Egypt that the dam – Africa’s biggest – would reduce the flow of the water to their territories.

Currently a tripartite committee, which is composed of six experts drawn from Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan, and four more international experts are assessing the impacts of the project.

The team is expected to announce the final findings and conclusions in May 2013.

The mad dog Isayas has a mission,
    1) To sacrifice Eritreans in the war against Ethiopia by siding with Egypt.
    2) To sell Eritrean people’s organ by collaborating with Egypt.

Unlike the mad dog Isayas the Eritrean People will always be on the side of Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania’s signed agreement in Entebbe, Uganda, to overturn a colonial-era treaty seeking a more reasonable and equitable utilization of the river.

    Dalit,

    Dear Reader,

If you investigate the 1998-2000 war against Ethiopia was not about territory but money and greed. Issayas is a mad dog, I have no doubt that he is going to go to war with Ethiopia just because he is going to get money. The Eritrean should be aware of this! Again greed is the motive. Is says is a servant and he will always be!

    Desperately seeking attention.
Essayas and Eritrea have no say,no contribution , no influence whatsoever on Nile issue. It is unstopable, the black Africans are now more than ever to protect theier interest. This poor banda will leave no stone unturned to get the attention from anyone .He is been suffering from the little man syndrome.
Look at this from nationalist Eritrean point of view, would it have any national/moral interest siding with Egypt against black African’s? just for little frefari. This is political prostitution at its worst.
I think his Malaria is back.

Isayas has always looked down on black Africans. Since his first Speech in the OAU, in the beginning of the 90ties. He is traitor of the black people. He is ARAB AND CIA agent. He even helped Gaddafi when Gadaffi tried to move the seat of the African Union to Libya from Addis Abeba. Isayas is deranged, mentally ill lunatic guy who despises his black and habesha heritage.

Dear Tes, if you may don´t know who Isayas is, the late PM Meles correctly described it who he is. Isayas thinks Asmara is the nucleus (center)of the politic of the world and assumes the whole nation is ruling under his wise leadershipment. He dare to teach the world leaders about justice, democracy economy etc..If this PM Meles description doesn´t help you to know who Isayas is, i suggest you to read the book “Don Quixote”if you like in its Amharic version. Defiantly the book enable you to know who Isayas is. Guarantee you love, enjoy and laugh it because you see the mad dog´s character like mirror through Don Quixote history. I am sure everybody who finished read that book from day one as start to call Isayas “Don Quixote of Asmara” the crazy adventurer who living in his own fantasy world.

      Truly Truly,

You are truly truly Ugum. Meles admired the intellect of Issaias Afeworki Abraham.

During a 1994 interview with foreign journalists in Asmara, Meles was quoted to have said the following about Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki: “Spending one hour with Isaias is far more worthwhile, rewarding and enlightening than reading ten books”
