ERITREAN OPPOSITION POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS & BAITO YIAKL NORTH AMERICA UNITE TO PROTEST PRIME MINISTER ABIYE AHMED'S CLAIM OF REPRESENTING ERITREA IN HIS ADDIS ABABA OCTOBER 10, 2019 SPEEH To: His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali Prime Minister

ERITREAN OPPOSITION POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS & BAITO YIAKL NORTH AMERICA UNITE TO PROTEST PRIME MINISTER ABIYE AHMED’S CLAIM OF REPRESENTING ERITREA IN HIS ADDIS ABABA OCTOBER 10, 2019 SPEEH

To: His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali
Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
Addis Ababa.

Your Excellency,
We, the undersigned Eritrean Political Opposition Organizations and other justice seeking Eritreans in the Diaspora and at home, would like to submit this letter of unequivocal protest on your inaugural speech in the opening ceremony of the Unity Park in Addis Ababa 2019-10-10 pertaining to Eritrea.

We were deeply shocked and embarrassed to hear once again your explicit declaration of representing Eritrea in front of seven African heads of states and representatives of various international organizations, who all very well know that Eritrea is a sovereign country that achieved its independence after 30 years of protracted and costly liberation struggle and should have been represented, as customary, by one of its delegation including one of the two Eritrean ambassadors currently residing in Addis Ababa.

Your Excellency,
You formally announced that you were delegated to represent Eritrea by President Isaias Afwerki; underlined that Eritrea and Ethiopia are so intimately connected and that their relationship has reached such a level of representation, and congratulated the Ethiopian people and all for that achievement.

The Eritrean people value their freedom as well as a good relationship with Ethiopia based on mutual trust and respect. We, the Eritrean Opposition organizations and justice seekers underscore that Eritrea´s fate is decided by its own people and not by a dictator in Asmara. We stand therefore, firm to defend our hard-won independence which we see being gradually eroded and our social fabric destroyed by the dictator in Eritrea. We note and alert all concerned that the patience of our people is wearing thin and they are getting angrier by the day.

Your Excellency,
The world knows the extremely disquieting political, social, economic and human rights situation in Eritrea. It is a country without constitution, no election or elected president, no rule of law and no free press – a country where people are denied to peruse a normal life. Ethiopia and Ethiopians are a living witness of the flooding of thousands of Eritrean refugees including unaccompanied underage children entering your country every day.

The denial of our people’s sovereign and inalienable rights to elect a representative government cannot continue for too long. Until that day, no foreign leader has the legal and moral right to speak on behalf of the Eritrean people.

As we continue to struggle to ameliorate the suffering of our people, we remain certain that the hurdles we as a people face today will be history tomorrow. Peace based on the will and the power the people will flourish and be asserted. Taking side with the Eritrean people will always be the right path for healthy and good future relations. Those whose aspire for a lasting peace in the region should avoid allaying with evil forces of tyranny and destruction.

We, once again, express our gratitude to the people and Government of Ethiopia for hosting thousands of Eritrean refugees and the support rendered to them in this difficult time of our history. We call upon Your Excellency, today a Nobel Peace Prize laurate, to seriously reconsider your stance on Eritrea, increase your endeavors of of support and solidarity with the Eritrean people and strive at creating lasting peace in the region based on legal framework and institutional relationship between our countries.

Sincerely yours,

1. Eritrean National Council for Democratic Change (ENCDC)
2. Eritrean People’s Democratic Party (EPDP)
3. United Eritreans for Justice (UEJ)

    Hello Assenna,

This letter is timely and to the point should be echoed in every channel possible including the Atv. People should rally behind it and demonstrate all over the world in front of the embassies of Ethiopia, UAE and the local governments at one specific date.

Some people share incessantly on social media. And maybe occasionally see them what they’ve been up to. But people who have deep political knowledge about the on going situation don’t bring those things up. If you’re talking about something groundless just because it feels really good to share it, and there’s no place for the other person to add value, you’re just patting yourself on the back. so your question mark is

If you have really have a question that shows you truly value the other person’s expertise or knowledge is very acceptable. The person will feel good, because you implicitly get input. Win-win. And totally polite. Of course, you need to masters at social jujitsu, Social jujitsu is easy. Just ask factual questions. Stay open-ended, and allow room for description and introspection. But you are far way from this. You are living in post truth politics and most of the times lies.

You comprehend most of us as politician have difference with PIA. However we all do/did not have the same misunderstand about PIA”s trust, believe and his explicit or unequivocal leadership for contemporary Eritrea

Dr.Abiye and Ethiopians had one wish among many and that was to make peace between these two sisterly people. We don’t have to go to war because of Tplfits wishes to have and sabotaged Eritreas development in order to get more time to make their former Weyannes military apparatus stronger and prevent the people of Eritrea the same opportunity on the world stage as any sovereign country, to compete in equal terms but Weyannes did everything to prevent Eritrea to do so and was left out in in the cold by tplf tags by repeatedly accusing Eritrea for supporting Al-shabaab. President Afwerke or Shabia weren’t the only stakeholders in this, there were thousands of Eritreans and Ethiopians who paid a heavy price because weyane was scared to death to make peace with Eritrea.
Many Ethiopians applaud both these leaders for their efforts to peace.
Dr.Abiye did what he could but other than that, he can’t tell a sovereign country which path to choose or not, it is up to the leader and the people of Eritrea to work out. Right now we the people of Ethiopia are happy to see both people are meeting with each other after such a long time and we pray for a much better days to come for both nations.
We applaud both leaders for their efforts they successfully brought peace.
    God bless Eritrea and Ethiopia!!

I think it is an insult to the Eritrean people. I wonder if Doctor Abiye Ahmed is aware of his own way of coming to Power. If he think he does forgot how he came, I believe I can remind him very well.
He came to power by the revolution of Ethiopian people and he himself promised to change Ethiopia and bring justice to country. To the same coalition government in which he was part of secret service of the government had called them “ye qetri Jim”. I believe we don’t know this guy. Laughing is better than smiling, so his smile is like……..
He has to stop these insults and hypocritic political games and PR.
We are not going to be deceived twice.
Even to doctor Abiye Enough is Enough.

Dear Afewerki, your comments seems to come from group and/or individuals with a misplaced priority and perhaps from someone with a little or no knowledge of what transpired during the PM talk at the park inauguration.. As far as security and to some extent development of social and infrastructure, Ethiopia and Eritrea are on the right track better now than the past 21+ years. Please get your facts right. You sound .

Almaz, what track is Eritrea on dear?
Clearly Ethiopia is going through changes, unlike my beloved country Eritrea which is systematically, brick by brick taken apart to the ultimate annexation for the delight of DIA which we have known to be a double agent. Of course he has the help of people like you Almaz who knows noting about the Eritrean priority.

Almaz, give me a break! what do you know about development of a country or social well being? I bet noting what so ever!!!!!

Ps, If you are an Eritrean, why don’t you ask about the hundreds and thousands of underage Eritreans under the PM leadership. He is benefiting out of their misery.

The letter which has been sent to Dr. Abiy Ahmed the prime minister of Ethiopia is really such a vital measure of peaceful warning to him.
I feel irritation when the Ethiopian prime minister presented Eritrea.
Eritrea and Eritrean people will never depends on Ethiopian leaders unless the Eritrean people allowed.
Therefore, the message which has been sent to the prime minister of Ethiopia is very crucial and shows the hiden as well as the strong stored unity of Eritreans too.

  • Elias October 18, 2019

I think the representation is not official. We know Eritrea is sovereign. Dr. Abiy quoted that representation ‘brotherly’. However your idea is also acceptable.
