Fetsum: My Experience in Denver Festival (Part I)

Dedication: I dedicate this and my following articles to the organizers of the Denver Sinit Festival who gave it all to make it reality despite the result.

As you know our regional dynamics has motivated people to entertain different dreams, ideas and thoughts through the media. Ethiopians are enjoying the highest form of freedom of speech that a society can ever experience in their rugged journey to democracy. Unfortunately, not the Eritreans. The peoples of the two countries are respectively experiencing two opposite feelings, joy and melancholy as a result of the same cause (the overall dynamics in peaceful ambiance after Abiy’s arrival).

Some Eritreans are nervous and some restless while few others relaxed with a great depth of confusion. In this interesting socio-political environment, Isaias continues to survive without any change in policy and the all inclusive Eritrean opposition camp motionlessly continues chilling without any conceptual change in its broken frame of operation; no adjustment yet to the reality of our region. Individual activists and musicians are doing their thing while writers popping up here and there on the destructive effects of the regime and the monotonous message about the need for unified action with no response from most of the elite groups of the society. In short, the ordinary Eritreans are conscious enough to accept political change in the country but no action from the elite class to make it.

Yes I do agree with Fetsum.
Something is wrong with the format; the ‘Terms of Reference’ part at the bottom of the article is gone beyond the normal margin which creates a reader’s discomfort. I hope Part 2 will be OK.
