Hyndburn MP speaks out on behalf of persecuted christians in Eritrea

Hyndburn MP Graham Jones spoke out to ask if the government was probing the issue of mistreated Christians in Eritrea. Reports say people are fleeing the tiny Red Sea state because of religious persecution, including raids

Hyndburn MP Graham Jones spoke out to ask if the government was probing the issue of mistreated Christians in Eritrea.

Reports say people are fleeing the tiny Red Sea state because of religious persecution, including raids and torture.

Mr Jones raised the issue on the floor of the Commons and quizzed the staff of the foreign secretary about what was being done.

He said: “I would ask the secretary when he last discussed the persecution of Christians in Eritrea with firstly the government of Eritrea, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the United Nations’ human rights bodies.”

Parliamentary Under Secretary of State Mark Simmonds replied: “We raise human rights issues, including the persecution of Christians, with the Government of Eritrea at every opportunity and work closely with our partners to coordinate on these issues.

“In June our ambassador in Asmara raised the persecution of Christians with senior representatives of the Eritrean Government. “We work closely with the EU on Eritrea. In December last year, our ambassador alongside EU colleagues called on the Eritrean Government to release all prisoners held for their religious beliefs. We also expressed our concern about freedom of expression and opinion in Eritrea at the UN Human Rights Council.”

      Denden
You are so over your head about Eritrean issue. You are one of those PFDJ’s supporters who thinks that because you are having the time of your life at this time, you are blind to the truth in Eritrea. You are blind to the suffering of your people. You are blind to the destruction of our country’s future. To make your master the dictator happy, you will say and do anything. Your end is near. The Eritrean people will have the last laugh.

You, denden again!I thought you moved to Eritrea to enjoy the good life with your God send wonderful president. Better, I thought you be in Hilton Sawa enjoying all the privileges with the other Eritreans in the comfy trenches. My friend remember too much comfort some times blinds you to see what is around you such as religious persecution

  • TheTruth August 9, 2013

Why would Eritreans care what some white man in a distant land has to say? Some of us need to get over this white superior mentality complex.

    • Genet August 11, 2013

      The Truth?
Because your master the dictator is doing business with this white man.
The Truth?? Where are you? Are you in the white man’s world enjoying freedom to live as you wish?

  • Lone Selam August 9, 2013

Denden you must be one of the devils who are against justice and truth . I am an eye witness true Christians in Eritrea imprisoned murdered mistreated beaten and neglected for only one reason because they wanted to follow Jesus according to the gospel of Christ Jesus .

Denden is just like you STUPID…..

  • Lone Selam August 10, 2013

Yes yes I am an eye witness . I saw in Eritrea
Christians persecuted badly because of their faith.
    + Imprisoned
    + murdered
    + beaten and stoned
    + disappeared
    + mistreated and neglected
+ banned from worshipping The Lord
+ banned from exercising their faith
+ churches and thousands of Bibles set to fire by
The eritrean government and orthodox church
    authorities
+ money (MOBAEE )and properties belong to the
banned churches were taken by force by the
    government.

All these and others are live evidences if the persecution in Eritrea but denden and the truth tried to hide the true event of persecution on their comments on this page . Shame on them

      Lone-Selam
Get your facts right! The Eritrean Orthodox church is the victim of the dictator and PFDJ’s system. Have you heard the facts that Orthodox churches in Eritrea are taken over by PFDJ’s operatives. There are not real Orthodox church priests. Don’t you know that the head of Orthodox church is in prison. So, how is the Orthodox church responsible in persecuting any one? Having bitterness toward the Orthodox church is not going to help any body.

I think denden and thetruth who comented on this page have forgotten that all those who are in persecution ( imprisoned , disappeared , mistreated beaten and stoned ) are llive evidences of the persecution

  • KokobWell Abraham August 10, 2013

May be these people who try to hide the persecution in Eritrea are those who were involved in the saitanic work of the persecution

  • KokobWell Abraham August 10, 2013

The persecuted churches of Eritrea worship and serve only to God the creator of all. They don’t serve , worship , praise or pray to other names humans and creatures as what some other churches do in Eritrea
