Israel confirms plan to deport African migrants to Uganda

Israel plans to soon begin deporting migrants from Eritrea and Sudan, who number more than 50,000, back to Africa via Uganda, officials said.

Israel regards most of the Africans as illegal visitors in search of jobs, and largely rejects the position of human rights groups that many fled their countries in search of political asylum.

A statement late on Thursday from interior minister Gideon Sa’ar said Israel would soon begin a staged process of deporting the migrants, most of whom have crossed the border with Egypt since 2006.

Sa’ar said an agreement had been reached with Uganda to absorb the “infiltrators”, who would soon be urged “to leave of their own free will”.

Sa’ar said the prime minister’s special envoy Hagai Hadas had obtained Uganda’s consent, Haaretz reported.

The chairwoman of parliament’s committee on foreign workers, Michal Rozin, speaking by phone, said there were “rumours” that Uganda may have agreed to the arrangement in exchange for a deal for money and weapons.

There was no immediate comment from officials in Kampala.

“In the first stage, we will focus on raising awareness within the population of infiltrators while helping them with the logistics of their departure, including costs, airfare and dealing with the possessions they accumulated while they were in Israel,” Sa’ar said.

Later the state would set a deadline by which “certain sectors within the infiltrator population” would be asked to “willingly” leave the country.

Once the deadline passed, the state would stop issuing extensions on visas and would begin enforcing laws that prohibit the employment of illegal migrants, the minister said.

Rozin urged the government to expose more details of the plan, including whether there were assurances that the migrants would not be forcibly repatriated to Sudan or Eritrea, saying that in these countries “we know many would be at risk of their lives”.

Human rights groups say Israel has jailed hundreds of African migrants and taken other steps to get them to agree to leave the country.

A few thousand are believed to have left Israel in the past year since a law enacted in 2012 authorising migrants who lack any official residence permits to be jailed for up to three years, said Sigal Rozen, policy co-ordinator for Hotline for Migrant Workers (HMW), an Israeli human rights group.

In July, a group of 14 Eritreans were repatriated after receiving $1,500 each from Israeli authorities, in what HMW denounced at the time as a “grave human rights violation”, citing Eritrea’s poor human rights record.

At least one group of Africans was flown out of Israel to South Sudan in the past year and other migrants have been offered cash to leave. Some 2,000 Africans are being held in the southern detention centres.

A fortified fence along Israel’s border with Egypt’s Sinai has largely stemmed the flow of migrants, who walked across what was a porous frontier at a rate of up to 2,000 a month in 2011.

Israel plans to deport more than 50,000 refugees (Eritreans-Sudanese) back to Uganda. Unconfirmed news state that
” Uganda government agreed to the arrangement in exchange of a deal for money and weapons ” .
History repeated itself in front our own naked eye . Poor Eritreans had never been valued as humans because of
their racist stance to make us pay the price for their selfish and biased agenda . We didn’t forget their last
deal with Menghistu regime of Ethiopia on FELLASHA issue . The NAPALM BOMB (illegal weapon ) they delivered him
had been used In liberated town of MASSAWA at the time close to our full independence . We will not forget the
burned skin of those innocents including children . And I do not think they will treat the same to those from
Ethiopia because they have a reputation on how calculated they are to manipulate for their own benefit .
NB: Since they have very nice and God fearing principled people even some who I know personally in my daily life ,
I urge readers not jump on judgment to people of Israel in general . Bad apples existence have no boundaries .

blame the arab wanne be eritreans who brought eritrea to this level by brainwashing the Habesha abyssinian

    • Kabbire August 30, 2013

      ahmed,

      again singing “Habal belya ketqdmeki:
Aren’t your Arab masters who are enslaving, raping, jailing and murdering to Eritreans and who have been jailing and deporting Eritreans to the higdef regime or to the Islamist in Sudan again and again?
Israel have a legal responsibility to protect the refugees in its own land. Sending refugees to a third country such as Uganda should be condemned, even if Israel has a well known security problem from the Arab world and their sympathizers such as Chad, Eritrea and Somalia. Above all, Eritrea has been accused of supporting al Qaida Islamist in Somalia.
      Back to history:
Didn’t Jebha or Sewra say “We are Arabs and our struggle is anti Israel” and to prove the Abeeds burned Tigre language textbooks? While the Yemenis and Libyan Arabs were driving tanks in Adi Hawesha and supporting Mengisutu’s naval forces.
Weren’t the Baathist Fascist Arabs and their Eritrean Abeeds preaching Arab nationalism for Arab Eritrea?
Did a single Arab declare fatwa on the savage Arab Bedouins and the criminal Arab doctors of Libya and Egypt that are harvesting young Eritrean organs?
Did an Arab intellectual write anything worthy in the Arab media to condemn the fuucking Arabs in Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen who are still deporting Eritreans to the Hgdefs in Eritrea?
Did any worthy Arab condemn the slavery, torture, kidnapping, death of Eritreans in Arab hands under Arab nations?

      • ahmed saleh August 31, 2013

Please be a real man instead your approach with multiple identities like a criminal to hide . I-I ,kebire ,
Combishtato ………. bla bla , for what ? It only shows your sick mentality .
For me it is easy to suggest that ” the bad times years ” of our country conditions drove us to observe
some people with hidden agenda to entertain with out guilt since they minimize the reality of Eritrean innocent
people . The subject in discussion of above article is the facts of Eritrean people nowadays which had
been revolving in their lives . If you do not feel the pain better off to SHUT-UP YOUR POISONOUS MOUTH .
Anyway , It is your choice if you want act like those right-wing elements who preach hatred among human races
and religions , good luck if it satisfy your soul and spirit otherwise I am not on that stupid game .

        • ahmed saleh August 31, 2013

Again I clearly stated on my above comment that they are bad apples in every society . And from my
observation toward your tendencies I do think you belong to that category because your heart does
not look pure . MAY GOD GIVE YOU HIS BLESSING TO OPEN YOUR WECOMING HEART for heaven sake .

            Ahmed Saleh,

There are bad apples in every society…….

Why you tend to defend the indefensible arab/bedouin ignoble barbars??

Say it loud and clear that you are a wannabe arab/beduin don’t be ashamed my confused eritrean!

Do you feel you are more arab than Habesha??

          • ahmed saleh August 31, 2013

You add GM too to your list of names. Are
you in secretive mission in here to create
division like some enemies of bad will have
trying to do . We are beyond that destructive
mentality. So you better save your energy.

    Oh IsraHell

What is wrong with this country to be model of for Arab worlds ..day by day we hear contradicting statements from every corner. We will send them to Uganda and Uganda says never heard such thing, we send them to Kenya and Kenya did not talk such thing with Israhell. One from the government says that those refugees will not be allowed to take money more than we allow them to take .If they have more ,we will take it. Is that what they learned from Hitler who took everything from the Jews their hard earning money which they worked for their entire life? History repeats itself now.. Sorry for this country a best friend of the most passionate, democrat, refugee friendly , generous people of America. If I were America, I would not associate myself with this country who daily basis abuse refugees.

  • ATIE August 30, 2013

But i think it depends up on the cases they have recorded in the refugee intake form they fill in the day they entered Israel. if they are interviewed as visitors who came to search for a job or as refugees who fled for reasons related to human right violations is different. protection vs employment.

  • Tekluu Gubtaan August 30, 2013

Well, guys lets not blame Israel, in the first-hand ,bcs all of us knew that we were not going to be recognised in Israel as refugees. but we made the choice and steeped our feet so what’s wrong or what’s new.It was all our ignorance wasted our money to pull others pay, ransom to bedweins , locked …, and so on .To my amusement many left Ethiopia to Israel starting from 2007.if we were seeking refugee why we did not stay in Sudan or Ethiopia?…..

“.if we were seeking refugee why we did not stay in Sudan or Ethiopia?….”

That is not an intelligent question.

  • abdu August 30, 2013

Well; Israel supposed to be aware of any violation of human rights abused and tortur than any country around the world.Bcz. of they”ve been practicaliy experiance during and aftermath of second world war. for example; the atrocities of hollcust;genocide; enslavement and etc… Now; they do know the true sitiuation of Eritrea why do they put so many Eritrlife in jeprady;Have they forgaten what they went through ?

  • Genet August 30, 2013

It is not Israel’s responsiblity to care for Eritreans. The only problem I have with Israel is that they rejected the human right issue in Eritrea. By rejecting the real and known human right issue in Eritrea, they are supporting the position of the PFDJ’s leaders and the dictator. It is a shame. The Israel people should know better. After all they were victms of grooss and systematic human rights violations.

Let us get real. We, Eritrean people are responsiable for our own people. We need to stop blaming other Govs, or other countries. We have do nothing oppositions and selfish diaspora. Let us ask ourselves, who is helping the dictator? who is making money on his/her peoples’ death and torture? What ever is happening to us, We all are responsible.
    Genet

    • Suleiman Salim September 1, 2013

      Genet,

Are you Ok? You are contradicting yourself.

      • Genet September 3, 2013

        Suleiman Salim
If you read my comment right, I am not contradicting my self at all.
        The point is,
We can’t blam other people for our problems. Other people or other Gov. like Israel, have no obligation to care for Eritreans. I think they should have empathy, because they were in a similar situation. See, Suleiman, Israel’s Gov. has its priorety right. It is all about the Israel’s people and thier interests.

Who pushed the Eritreans out of thier homes in the first place? I see PFDJ supporters talking and being upset about Israel’s action, while supporting a dictator who is the root of the problem. All the concerend Eritreans, this is our problem to deal with. We need to stop blaming others.
        Genet

        • Suleiman Salim September 3, 2013

          Genet,

You think in a very strange way.

          • Genet September 4, 2013

            Suleiman
I am thinking realistically. Because I know no body cares about any one else, except themselves.
Let me give you a reality check. Let say, you are decevied Eritrean. You are conditioned like a robotic dame to think as right is wrong and wrong is right. Forgive me, I don’t mean to call you names. I have been incountaring now a few programed zombies. They charge like wild animals with misguided perception of our current situation in Eritrea. They think they are more Eritreans than any of us. Just like thier master the dictator, they developed bad habits bleming others for the Eritrean problems. If one has a bad habit of bleming others for his/her problmes, he/she will never fix any problems. That is why the dictator blems others for his short coming and his pathetic leadership ability.

His pitiful attempts to blem others like the WOYANE, USA, AND HIS ZOMBIE SUPPORTERS ARE NOW BLEMING ISRAIL. It is just sad.
The dictator is a lunatic and a serial killer. He will never take responsibility, because he is not aware of the problems. He is living in a bubble
            Sulemin,
Who should we blem? For problems such as: Incarceration of our people with out due process? Who should we blem? For the breaking up of the Eritrean families? Who should we blem for our young Eritreans being raised by single mothers? Do you know what the consequence of breaking up a family? Who should we blem? For forcing Eritreans to flee Eritrea? Who should we blem? For the dictator not be accountable for his actions and the Eritrean people? Who should we blem? For Eritrea to be with out rule of law? Who? The Woyane? the USA? the Israel? Who? the DICTATOR? tell us hwo if you can?

Yes The blame goes 100% to Israel!

They are REFUGEES! the are not migrants or infiltrators! And Israel denied them ALL the rights!

Israel broke all international laws . Israel forgot its history when they were abused by others. Above the international laws, Israel has Laws from the Almighty which clearly forbids the Jews from denying rights to the new comers.

I understand Israel is small nation with limited resources but the refugees should have Rights Due process to file their asylum. NON of the eritreans want to stay there for one minute if there was peace in Eritrea.
The UNHCR must repatriot/transfer the refugees to Canada or US/Europe.

All eritreans should Protest this where ever they are . if there is international organized outcry this wont be implemented.

First of all; I certainly agree with a lot of y’r statement on the above . But; as the same time; one thing you have to understand is; it is a natural thing in a any nation to look it’s own interest . So; what the Arabs did to words us by siding with dictator M. Haile Mariam(dergi or we can call him Zergi) they committed a terrible and heart broken crime against so many freedom fighters @ that time simply bcz. of we were fighting against Zergi for independent Eritrea ; and as well as so many civilians. And all those leaning and siding with dergi @that time was one part way of looking their own interest regardless how many people they killed and how many properties they destroy bcz. We were nothing to them and in their eyes & minds they probably thought blacks kill blacks as long as they were gaining their interest; can we blame the whole entire Arab people ? Can we blame the whole entire Ethiopian people ? I totally understand the scar they left to us it is in every Eritrean people’s mind & no Eritrean can forgive and forget and it will be assure to teach in every Eritrean child from generation to generation.
The worst thing even when our own dictator siding with TPLF in 1982 and killed and displaced so many our hero Eritreans ; we don’t relate with Arabs; but can same one imagine your own so called false liberatos by sprading false propaganda for their hidden agenda to grab a power this is worst crime than the Arabs crime committed .

A BIG LIER WITH NO SHAME .
Eritrean revolution ( SEWRA ERITREA ) never and ever associate itself with Arabic Identity . In fact , I am glad
to hear your assertion to support my theory of suspicion on those MAHBER ANDNET promoters . In SEWRA era usual
propaganda of Ethiopian government was the same as your ; ” AGHER LE AREBOCH LI SHETU ” means ” TO SELL THE COUNTRY
TO ARABS ” . If you are Eritreans even though I am sure you are Christian but cowardly you sold-out your own people
from your religion , region and blood family members to offend the legacy of their struggle and martyrdom .

I know only two brave Arab Egyptian Man who are fighting openly and spoke publically till now very detailed about the criminal gangs in Sinai with their Egyptian and Zionist “Contractors”. His name is HAMDY AL-AZAZY and a Sheikh Mohammed.. You can check on youtube and google his name. He is working a lot with EVERYONEGROUP based in Italy led by an eritrean priest! Musie Zeray! Hamdy Al-Azazy saved hundreds of lives and helps them till now, and unfortunetly burried several hundreds if not even a thousand of eritrean, sudanese and ethiopians.

But in general i do agree with your statement. But is not only the Arabs we shall condemn.. We shall condemn MUCH MORE our own people.

I live in germany and i have seen the past two month at least 500 Eritreans and Somalis who came via Libya i believe due to the so called good weather conditions to Italy and then to Germany trying to move more north (NORWAY or SWEDEN).

The actual Odysee/Trip from Libya to Italy cost them like 1000USD … Now the real shocking part, our so called Eritrean mainly Christian brothers charge from Italy to Germany or other North European countries money of at least 1000Euro=1300USD per person!!!!
This is not even the top of the story, those who are “lucky” and have relatives who are able to send them money once they arrived in italy must use local Eritreans with residence to receive funds, and those Eritreans charge them approx. 40-60% of those funds!!!!
Then you have those Eritreans who take any white person from the street and present to them as he was a “high ranking” person and that this person would take them, because they are so vulnerable and desperate they trust this Eritrean bastard and getting ripped off this way.

I helped several and asked them straight, even i helped them with translation when they were caught by police. I felt so disgusted and the names of those traffickers shall be displayed all over with pictures.
A group of non-useless Eritreans are soon going to give the full names of those ones deeply involved with Mobilenumbers and pictures.

I will publish it here on Assenna!!!
