SHABAIT’s master piece fiction: “Developmentalnews”.

The factors of news (the sender, the message and the receiver), media property and news values play a big role in the credibility of the message.

The knowledge of these factors, media property and news values visa vis SHABIT com help us to know what is this website up to?

PF (JD) is the sender also the owner of the medium

You can own a media, be an entrepreneur and leave the media issues to the editor. In our case the regime is the owner and editor. ESAYAS is vocal when it comes to media. He once said that he knows what kind of news that an Eritrean citizen should read or listen or watch. The regime’s communicators, like the media, are owned by him. They are not the owners of their knowledge, sense and experience. They have sold them to the regime. There are many Eritreanswho keep their eyes blind and their ears deaf to the atrocities of the regime and this either due to fear or ignorance. But the regime’s communicators – even like the other citizens, due to fear or ignorance, make their eyes blind and their ears deaf to the atrocities-  have become the second most despised group, after the regime, by many Eritreans, due to the role they are playing in circulating the lies of the regime .  So it is important to know who these communicators are. Are they professional journalists who studied journalism and practiced it? Or are they bunch of drop outs with their weak points that were easily exploited by the regime. Or are they from the outcome of a group that was brainwashed to believe that ESAYAS is the way and there is no another way.

“Developmental news” is his message

Every day there is news about “developmental project” in SHABAIT. Let us do the science and the maths. News about a project will directly or indirectly create a job for the youth. The more the projects are the more the hiring. But if that project is not directly or indirectly creating jobs, then what it is? Why are the youth fleeing the country? Are not these projects meant to do something with improving the living conditions of citizens? But they are not. The proof is not only the fleeing of the youth but also the typical answer about the living condition in Eritrea:“those who have someone abroad are the ones who are living better than the one who don’t have”. It is good to remind you that the Eritrean Diaspora is not only sending money to Eritrea but if you see those who are in countries like Saudi Arabia, they are also sending groceries too. That will again trigger a question about the projects. Aren’t these projects supposed to help our people put their daily groceries on the table? It also will trigger a big question whether the projects are fake, which means that the news isfake, too.

Many Eritreans who live in Eritrea and also those who return back from a visit there tell about the hard times the majority of Eritreans are having in living their daily lives.(http://asmarino.com/articles/1298-sanctions-pfdjs-excuse-for-incompetence-part-ii.)

I call those who are able to visit Eritrea to print the SHABIT news and track it in the ground in Eritrea. They will help us to know whether SHABIT is fiction or non-fiction website.

I said Eritreans who visit Eritrea, because, we don’t have international journalists or international organization inside Eritrea who can verify not only the credibility of these “developmental projects” but also whether these projects are real or not.

The Receivers

SHABAIT targetsthe Eritrean pro-government Diaspora, such the young PF (DJ), the regime affiliated community members and of course the PF (DJ) s, as its primary audience but why?

By providing this news about “development” the regime tries to boost the morale of its supporters. It knows that the supporters are in trouble where it is crystal clear to the world that the regime is bad. Its supporters are demoralised. What does the regime do to them? Easy: just post good news about “development”. That will give them relief as a good music gives relief to a listener who tries to get relief by listening to music.

The regime knows it can’t sell its media merchandise to those who are opposing it. It also knows that the international community won’t buy it either. Thus the medium has become just like a pub where the supporter and sympathizers of the regime go to drink cups of lies that will make them drunk enough to forget the ugly truth about Eritrea.

The value of the news according to PF(JD)

ESAYS has once said that what is going to benefit news about catastropheto an ordinary Eritrean? The ordinary Eritrean, according to PF (DJ) is the person who is conscripted in the un-limited national service and the person’s powerless family or parents.  The regime wants these ordinary Eritreans to listen his news, nothing else. In other words he uses the media like the gun to control them. But the result is that both of them are rejecting him. The youth continue to flee and their families are continuously despising the regime’s communicators. If you ask many Eritreans about TV- ERI or DEMSTI HAFASH broadcasters they will tell you that theyare despising them more than the previous colonizer’s communicators. Did the regime announce about the plight and death of the youth in the Sinai, Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara. It did not. Not only because it wanted to hide the truth but also to block that information from reaching the ordinary Eritreans who are controlled by its propaganda.

There is no news value in the regime’s media. Positive news is good. It makes the spirits go up. But in our case, the phenomenon is negative and super fictitious news about “development” that is disseminated by SHABAIT won’t lift our spirit up.

News values credibility, neutrality and integrity. The SHABAIT news about development is not credible since they can’t be verified by a neutral side. The communicators of SHABAIT are not neutral but working for the regime out of fear or ignorance. When you are not credible and neutral your news lacks integrity. If you report the opening of a project you have also to report about the outcome of the project, be it good or bad.

The results of SHABAIT propaganda:

  1. You can fool them one time but you can’t fool them all of the time. Well sung song by Bob Marley. Many former pro PF (DJ) are now regretting and repenting. This is good. But still we have those who want to be fooled all of the time. This group will be in scrutiny after the fall of the regime. There will be a time that we ask ourselves whether we can allow this group in the political process of post PF (DJ) Eritrea? The group has to blame itself and SHABIT for the illusion that made it believe that what PF (DJ) has done to Eritreans and Eritrea is right.
  2. SHABAIT has made the profession despised. Whereas all of the world communicators inform and educate, the regime’s communicators has made the profession cheap to a degree many Eritreans lost hope in the role of media in helping to bring change in Eritrea.
  3. It has become the regime’s tool just like the regime’s prisons. The regime is saying believe what I say in my media if not you go to the prison. Many Eritreans see the media like the rest of the government spies and security persons.
  4. SHABAIT creates illusions. The illusions are numerous: we have projects every day. Multiply that by two or three or four years. Are we yet there (Singapore?). We wake up every day and find that the opposite is true. Hard to believe to what to SHABAIT has been saying.

If anyone is out there still supporting the PFDJ regime, the guy (Ustaz) has some news for you. It is a serious warning that should be overlooked. He said, “Those who want to be fooled all of the time will be in scrutiny after the fall of the regime.” Here is what he meant: if you don’t repent before the GOE falls, you will face either the barbaric Saudi Arabian styled execution or the equally barbaric Iranian stoning. My good friend, kozami, are you there? Our fate is sealed as far as Ustaz and his Taliban comrades are concerned.

    • Mr. T January 5, 2012

      read…should not be overlooked.

      • kozami January 5, 2012

        Tsehaye

Yes, sir, I hear in trepidation as the little girl is ‘warning’ the Siberian Tiger that repent or else…

  • Abdi January 5, 2012

Desperate people,is this supposed to attract us and support you? Weak people always look for cheap news and rumors to discredit their enemy’s efforts, your article would have been acceptable for some extend if the news from the gov’t was only on radios, but fortunately its on tv accompanied by videos and pictures,so do you want us to believe your article and disbelieve what we see in videos and pictures?
Who is fooling us now you or the gov’t?
Stop pushing people to hate you more and more!!!!
You article is”Nhna nblekum eyu haqi,b aynkhum zreakhumo hasot eyu,”

Btw, the growth was 8.2% in 2011,,did the world get paid to lie about our growth too?

    • Eritrawi January 6, 2012

What? 8.2% growth in what? the number of prisoners, the number of youth who left the country. I just do not understand where you have got this from?

      • Abdi January 7, 2012

If you stop looking through the woyane eyes you will see where this growth came from.

        • sol January 8, 2012

Abdi, media has become a very powerful to disseminate what you want, with smart software and editing tools, we can be able to create a marevellous documentary. Do you think what ever film you see from Hollywood? Do you think all roses that you see true. most of them are the product of art and technology in spite of there is some reflection in the ground. Having said that HIGDEF spent its time making music, shingrawa, movies, dramas and festivals and seminars and a small portion of construction for tge sake propaganda.

          • Abdi January 8, 2012

            “Tereti’Ena keyblus ygbay yblu”
guys give us something which can help us understand your agenda.stop insulting our intelligence pls.editing?

  • Weldit January 5, 2012

The writer uses PF (JD) instead of PFDJ, but he doesn’t bother to tell us what that is or why he is using that. Mr writer, try to improve your communication with your readers and don’t assume we know what’s in your mind.

As far as shabait.com goes, it’s daily ‘news’ is hardly news. All we read is the same things day in day out. diaspora meeting for “national rebuff”, “residents applaud the government”, “president Isayas did this or that”, “foreigners applaud prevailing peace in the country”….just the typical self-praising communist propaganda. No one expects to read new news.

  • FACT-is-FACT January 5, 2012

    Weldit,
well said on what that shabait.com really does. In this globalized, digital era, I have never seen a blog let alone a medium owned by a gov’t that is so ridiculously dilapidated with lingua deficiency, muddied truth that insults its supporters’intelligence such as Mr. T. Tsehaye !

The sad reality about Eritrea is that the fact people like Mr. T. Tsehaye can write with flluency than the shabiat.com gate-keepers & editors, BUT, matter-of-fact is since (a) PFDJ never trusts its outer-orbit supporters like Mr. T and (b) and since people like Mr. T. are only there like the stock broker of NASDAQ. Their stance is committed until the needle of the GOE’s pendulum eventually and inevitably dislodged by the true owners of the pendulum. Then, you will eventually see their existence popped up like mushroom wearing different skirts. Nothing new. Onething that I admire about true supporters of dictators such as Gadaffi’s spokesperson who stuck with his man till the bitter end, at least they have CONVICTION! His love for his man gadaffi or whatever held him firm till the end! poor lad! will Mr. T and his likes fight for their man? You can bet on Eritreans supporters. Their bondage to the man and his rules are the stocks, attachment to tribe, hatred towards the other side. They are endowed with NO conviction, humanity or love & admiration for their man! Nothing, nada! time is a mirror that reveals things as time exponentially goes to infinity as it inevitably will!

When people stand up for their right, it is sad to see so called educated Eritreans
try to discredit people voices. They have option to support and defend the regime
with it’s agenda of oppression. The suffering and anguish of our people seem a joke
to some fake people with stoned heart. We know the facts, we saw it in front our
eyes, we lived in it. After all these sad happenings now with Mr. T our teacher in
Eritrean politics is computing in hollow and stupid stance far from facts with illussion
to nothing. Keep denying the treatment of Eritreans at the hands of those lawless
people in the government who we gave them our trust and support. You do not
want hear the screams of the dead, the one on dugouts for years with no trial and
our youths disappearance which resulted to death and unfortunate situations.
Wake up brother, nobody can fool us again, we are awared more than you do.

Everybody wants to go to heaven; but nobody wants to die. Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

    • Eritrawi January 6, 2012

Dude, that is called homelessness (destitute) sort yourself out.

  • Abnet Tesfai January 5, 2012

the purposeful, selective and vantage tactics of the dictator to fabrication news to thier utmost levels is to deceive the eritrean people in general and the diaspora in particular. every abhorrent and banal news broadcasted daily are to stupefy the nationals.
intensive resources are invested to equip the sole Issayas’s company to cover all over the world for his egotistical purpose while the education system remained with out qualified personnel and learning materials. the health facilities run out of medical stock and health workers till the people left without adequate medical services.
the brilliant and experienced staff were incarcerated, intimidated, frozen or exiled. intentionally they were replaced by flatterers, vapid and in-adroit staff like Ali Abdu, Asmalash Abraha, Geremskel Gerezghier, Haielom Bereke and other writers with pseudonym all were to propagate the trivial news a frog size to an elephant.
fortunately even the rats are not dupe of their vacuous personality.

    • Eritrawi January 6, 2012

Well said Abnet but please do not name drop and stoop down to the level of PFDJ. It might be interpreted as character assassination plus you don’t know what those people are thinking.
      Kindest regards

  • Popular Front for Dictatorship and Jailing(PFDJ) January 6, 2012

where is the development at all? let’s be wise and let’s look around.
Isayas is not an angle.. he couldnot lead the country and he could not improve the life of our people rather he is getting rich …. and live in luxurious life.. while our people are suffering..
Isayas and his regime likes “Guayla and propoganda for Nothing….”
so mister president should follow his master mind gaddafi!

  • kozami January 6, 2012

Just pulling your leg…all is fine in the accommodation front! learn to take light joke for what it is worth…else you will look old for your age. A little subtlety in your part may not hurt, diplomacy is such that you tell people to go to hell in such a way that they actually look forward to the trip!

    • Eritrawi January 7, 2012

Fair play, light heartedness is one thing I need to improve on, but then again the situation in our beloved homeland is not helping (it is serious) if I am making sense. One love
