Dr Alganesh Fessaha, President of Gandhi NGO Awarded Two Awards in Separate Occasions: “Ambrogino d'oro golden medal” by the Mayor of Milan as well as National Prize in Rome in Recognition of her Humanitarian Work

Dr Alganesh Fessaha, President of Gandhi NGO Awarded Two Awards in Separate Occasions: “Ambrogino d’oro golden medal” by the Mayor of Milan as well as National Prize in Rome in Recognition of her Humanitarian Work & Supporting Eritrean and African Refugees.

The ‘Ambrogino d’oro’ is the City of Milan golden honour medal, conferred every year to a small number of Milan citizens, in recognition of extraordinary support to the City, the inhabitants, the culture and the image of Milan in the world.

Translation of the motivation for awarding the 2013 Ambrogino d’oro golden medal to Alganesh Fessaha, by the Mayor and the City authorities in a public ceremony held in Milan on the 7th of December 2013:

Alganesh Fessaha is a Milan citizen of Eritrea origin, citizen of the word in light of the peace ideal guiding her meritorious work in African and Near East countries as President of ‘Gandhi’ NGO.

With same humanitarian spirit of the ‘Giusti della storia’ she puts her own life at risk to free Sub-Saharian refugees mostly from Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan, brutally kidnapped and tortured.

She saved hundreds of men, women and children, victims of most cruel human trafficking in the planet.

She delivers schooling projects and professional training and promotes acceptance and integration of refugees in Milan

immediately after the Lampedusa shipwreck tragedy she rescued and supported the survivors, performing also a precious function of liaison with the families in the countries of origin.

The mother of Eritrean refugees – it is about time she gets recognized.

  • Sara December 7, 2013

Why do we always feel the need to seek legitimacy from foreigners? We should strive to be recognized by our people and not by those who despise our existence.

    • Sara December 7, 2013

First of all congratulations Dr Alganesh, may god give you good health and long life, as you our mother and our hero.
Sara, you are so annoying we Eritreans new about her great work for along time, so we had plenty of time to prepare this type of prize that she deserves, but non of our organization did it. So when others recognize good job you should not feel bad just be greatful for it. Meron is another Eritrean that deserves such recognition, so how about working toward that Eritreans, think about it.

      • Sara2 December 8, 2013

@Sara, please correct your statements, they do not hold water! True is
Dr Alganesh & Meron have informed the world. BUUUUUUUT what was the information? It was only relevant to the politics of the time – no less no more! It did bring nothing to the hostages and the victim relatives worldwide who has or had to pay the huge amounts as ranson. The RICH people paid the required amount and those who did not were KILLED in the presence of these two so-called humanitarian activists. They realy served only & only the SANAI/mediteranian – politics. period!

If any one can convice me otherwise with substantial arguments, then welcome!
TRUTH/fact belongs to our culture, please don’t politicize these tragic events in Sinai and Mediteranian see. I see still no problem solve at all by these activists. The problems exist as they were! The trafficking continues and the ‘Bedouins’ are also still active. Isn’t this paradox phenomenon ridiculous!!!!

ASSENNA, please don’t delete this posting. It is a democratic right to say one’s opinion based on facts.

Sara2…please dont talk about topics you have no clue of, you wrote” It did bring nothing to the hostages and the victim relatives worldwide who has or had to pay the huge amounts as ranson.” I know two people here in germany who praise Dr.Alganesh because their close relatives were released because of Dr.Alganesh cooperation with Hamdy Al-Azazy and a Sheikh Mohammed!!!

        • Nahom December 8, 2013

          Sara 2
You are asking not to politicize the tragedy of Sinai’s victims, are you blind and deaf not to see and hear that the tragedy is caused by a stone age politics of the back warded mafia regime of Isias Afwerqi.

    • YONAS December 7, 2013

      Sara
you are idiot, when some one honoured for their humanitarian work for helping the helpless they get recognition from every human being, you said those who despise our existence,do you mean hgdef or teklay manjus or you and the papagalos in the diaspora, you have no say about her excellent service but you have to say something about her recognition, you are one jealous witch with smelly mouth

    • Debas December 7, 2013

      Sara,
Even if you are a supporter of the scavenging Hyena IA and his regime, you should be pleased for this excellent human being who helped her fellow countrymen and other beloved African brothers and sisters in time of their need. She is precisely honored by others because her own country and its leader are causing the very Havoc she is fighting to contain and save its victims. What a stupid question you ask. I am annoyed at your ignorance and cruelty like your leaders, but I do not wish you ill if you are indeed an “Eritrean/African”. Because one day, ignorant and cruel followers of the most inhuman cruel half-brother of ours who is leading our beloved Eritrea to Hades along with himself, will learn a lesson or two from the likes of Dr. Alganesh who sacrificed her safety to HELP others. Its that kind of kindness and selflessness which put her on the spot light unwittingly not because she sought it. You and your Cruel Leader could learn a lesson or two from the likes of her and the Global Hero Nelson Mandela (MADIBA)! Great leaders lead by example, like in Madiba’s case, sacrificing 27 years of his life for a cause he believe-in and coming out as peace maker while taming self anger inside for the good of his country and countrymen. Not like your pretty boy leader who lived in the wilderness like a royalty, w/o any SCAR is still fuming! Because of this unknown malady, he has been sending many a youth to their death indiscriminately non stop. First by fighting/killing fellow Eritreans instead focusing on the enemy, and lately, about 15 years ago, to the enemy front lines by the tens of thousands many a time when not absolutely necessary. Case in point, the border war was pure and simple liquidation of youth when he could have settled his differences over negotiations with his evil twin-half brother and former protege who also died w/o solving the border issue leaving the enmity between the two brotherly people for ever. The killing still continues in different forms, direct and indirect like Lampedusa and Sinai! Look at yourself in the mirror if you have eyes as I am convinced of your questionable mind/judgement and also the other look alike fellow minions, and see if Dr. Alganesh and those who perished in Lampedusa and elsewhere do not look like you. How can you be then so callous, hateful and cruel? Hope you will grow up one day. To wish living peacefully in ones own country or move to another when NOT possible is not a sin or denial of ones nationality. Those who are causing havoc in Eritrea are by far with very questionable National Eritrean ID and loyalty.

      • Sara2 December 8, 2013

@Sara, even if I criticize your statements constructively, I want to make you clear that I am not the sympathizer of the Killers in Eritrea and elsewhere, Mr Isayas Afeworki, who was never elected as a representative of the Eritrean people, as he also stated it in New York himself. He and his junta (=’Bedouine’?)are the only cause of our problem which is an open secret.
