UN Commission of Inquiry on Eritrea

Press Statement

John Kirby
Assistant Secretary and Department Spokesperson, Bureau of Public Affairs
Washington, DC
June 10, 2016

The United States takes note of the recently issued report by the UN Commission of Inquiry (COI) on Eritrea, in particular its conclusion that there are reasonable grounds to believe that crimes against humanity have been committed in Eritrea. We have repeatedly expressed grave concern about the human rights situation in Eritrea, and that concern has been reinforced by the COI’s findings. We strongly encourage the Government of Eritrea to engage fully with the international community and UN bodies to address the human rights situation. The Government’s willingness to work on several Universal Periodic Review recommendations is a step in the right direction. We also urge Eritrea to implement its constitution, hold national elections, honor its commitment to limit the duration of national service to 18 months, develop an independent and transparent judiciary, and release persons arbitrarily detained including political prisoners, journalists, and members of religious groups.

We continue to support international efforts to improve the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Eritrea and will work to promote these efforts within the context of the upcoming Human Rights Council session.

The regime in Eritrea cannot be reformed unless it’s leaders are brought to ICC and face justice for crimes committed against innocent people for the last 25 years.
For the Gulags scattered around the country to be closed, the international community has to act in unison against the perpetrators.

All American citizens of Eritrean Origin should contact their congressmen/Women and make them aware of the COI’s findings and request their support to send the responsible members
of the Eritrean Junta to Heig.

That’s very true, nobody should negociate or cajole this gang of criminal mascarading as a government in Asmara , if the international community wants to end this misery imposed on the Eritrean masses and avert disaster in the Mediterranean they should bring this criminal gang to the ICC promptly. There is more than enough evidence to put away this abusive junta away and give the Eritrean people the freedom and independence they fought for and live with their neighbors in peace and harmony

Sheikh Khalid of Somali warlord, should you not be brought to ICC and face justice for crimes committed against innocent people. What are you doing on Eritrean websites now acting as an Eritrean? Your kind of warlords have done so much damages on Eritrean civilians and properties that you should have no places in the new civilized world.

The sooner we get rid of you two Arab slave dogs the better and cleaner Eritrea we will have for the future.

Thanks the US government to support the human right concern in Eritrea. The region is in a crtical condition, once this dicatorial regime mess the region there will be endless instability. we want the US to support our effort to tackle this backward regime and replace with dimocratic government, The Africa Union is not helpful at all, they are part of the problem. they do not do anything.

Forget reform, the country needs a complete transformation, a makeover, a fundamental change to restore its image to what it was when my mom handed me to my godfather to be baptized by the name of the father , the son, and the holy ghost ab INDA MARIAM. We just want to take back what was stolen from us, who we are. This nation that I see today is not the one I left behind or the one I fought for.

i support my gouverenement and i love my ppl, just leave us alone

  • Khalid June 11, 2016

    Dear brother and sisters,

Let allow me to tell you the following:

    – Waiting for the international community to do something about the ruling junta in our country, is like what we call in my country “ab semai zelo debena”. It takes time, and that, only if it’s in their interest to do it, i.e. don’t count too much on them. Just look at the case of Omar A-Bashir, all dictators of the continent are supporting him to avoid creating a precedent. Despite that, it’s good to campaign to mobilize support from all peace loving countries. But it all comes after we work hard to do our part.

    – So, what should we do ?. There are so many things we can do, but only if we put our resources together, and follow a written road map that clearly shows where we are heading and what we want achieve. A road map to which the finest minds of our country should contribute. Something, away from partisan politics, inclusive, based on national consensus on major issues. No amount of work done by others can lift Eritrea from its current status of failed State, unless we the owners take direct responsibility act before it’s too late.

    – Why Iseyas is so confident that he will see even the golden jubilee ?.
Let me state the obvious, his mortal like every human being, he may not even be there til the end of this year. But his ideology will be there for years to come, unless we come to our senses, and look inward first. From day one Iseyas has been a controversial figure. The source of his power is our shared weakness. Many of us still think he is hero, Hamasenite, a Christian ..etc. but he is none of that, but a godless rascal. One thing is true, he is evil and very intelligent in that.

In a nutshell, don’t wait for anyone. We created a monster, we are the only ones who can remove him.

Who in his or her sane mind thought after sixty years of Ghedli that Eritrea will be found by an independent UN Commission as a land of slavery?

I will not be surprised of Saudi Arabia, Libya, Sudan, Mauritania, Niger or Yemen living and harbouring slave or trading in humans they call “Abids” but Eritrea that had proud Higi-Endabas that even had protected animals and trees — which the U.N. Commission found reasonable grounds to believe that “crimes against humanity” have been committed against the population.

Funny the retards in Ghedli were calling the emperor Haileselassie as “Feudal”. The idiots who repeat nonstop about a Shifta and the fiction of “The Spark, the Fire and the Torch” should think twice now because Eritrea has become a land of slaves in its own and the land of Abids in Libya and Egypt in the hand of the Ghedli leaders and the Arab slave drivers.

Would you please go back to you Tigray Online … instead of poisoning the air here ?
Tigreyans are going to US and other countries on UNHCR sponsored resettlement programs using Eritrean names. Do you think we don’t know that ?

      • Raki June 12, 2016

Mokie aka Khalid, Sol, Nsane, Hagherawi, ertra n arabawian, and so many others. We simply call him the mad Arab dog Abderobo. Let’s just call you “baAl bizuH meliHas ab Hade jihadi ri’esi gimel”.
If you want to be taken seriously just take off you Hijab cover and come back with one pen-name like the rest otherwise is it your criminal past shames with ELF that is making you use so many garbage names.
Give us a break and go back to your Sudanese/Yemeni way of nomad life playing and running with your camels and goats.

        • Khaled June 12, 2016

Because of some ‘deki khomaro’ like you Eritreans are suffering.
Time will come also for bastards like you.

Indeed, time is coming really soon that deki arbaA the immigrant Arab slave dogs will be thrown out back to your Sudan or Yemen.
I see you posing again as an Eritrean with new pen-names of Almaz2, Gual Eritrea but your moslem slave Arab foot soldiers prints are clearly to spot, are you back to your stinking Hijab again with new female names?
