    If I take this opportunity to say that you are doing a fantastic job it would be superfluous. So, I shall not say a word. Let History bestow upon your dues.

    What Does Eritrea Want?
    At times, it is better to go back and ask fundamental question. After the formation and failure of so many “opposition” parties and civic organizations (close to ninety!), endless internet commentaries and squabbling, it is time to STOP and ask fundamental question >>> WHAT DOES ERITREA WANT?
    Based on the above sentiment, I submitted the following commentary. (reproduced here for convenience):

    What is it that Eritrea wants?

    When was the last time that Eritrea enjoyed its core value of Life?
    When was the last time that Eritrea was derailed from its core value of Life?

    What was the core obligatory reason for the sacrifice of some 300,000 gallant, faithful Eritreans (of all ages) during an elongated period of a century and quarter?
    Finally, the following question may be asked with purity of innocence: What would be the core HISTORY of Eritrea that future generations of Eritrean children would be taught (proudly) at their schools, by their indigenous teachers, from elementary schools to the highest advanced Universities?

    My internet-friend k.tewolde, the prolific commentator at this website, sternly reacted as follows

    Now, where do I go from here? First, I would like to thank k.tewolde for his commentary. Specially, I was intrigued (delightfully) with his last concluding sentence i.e. “The rest will fall into place beautifully like the helix of a molecule A-T/G-C forming the authentic Eritrean DNA.” Well said! It rimes with the classical drama where the actor defended his unexpected action, contrary to his previous promise, by saying >>> “I cannot help it; it is in my nature”. And so, the strange phenomenon was named (classified) as TRAGEDY. Dear Readers: Please correct the famous saying as you please and then ponder over the “molecular structure forming the authentic [of the Actor’s] DNA”
    Glossing over the history of “Eritrea” for the last one hundred twenty-five years, one can’t help observing the constant ‘Act’ of Eritreans indulging in self-inflicting actions, devoid of any consideration of ‘give and take’ for the benefit of the WHOLE. We excuse and legitimize our bizarre actions by invoking (silently, of course) cancerous parochial matters like religion, region, tribalism, racism etc. – anything that divides us into pieces of bare entities. So, is it indeed “the authentic Eritrean DNA”? TRAGEDY — that WE cannot help it?!
    Dear Readers: Please, for the sake of “Eritrea”, indulge in constructive criticism and suggestions for the true liberation of Eritrea — NOT insulting each other and degrading ourselves in squabbling, which can only drag us down into the gutter of human history. Didn’t our background teach us anything at all? Weren’t our sufferings enough to ask ourselves and search for unified better alternative? Or, are we to conclude we are doomed to be against ourselves?
    Now, don’t get me wrong. There are numerous admirable self-effacing Eritrean individuals who are pouring their hearts out for a dream of a beautiful Eritrea. If we can, by all means, let us support them fully to the best of our abilities, using the free website (e.g. archive.assenna.com) wisely and effectively for the benefit of ALL. Otherwise, at the very minimum, let us NOT be obstacle to them. The alternative is simple: free fall of a country to shredded insignificance.
    One last paragraph: While browsing, I found the following words in a blogger’s entry, which are very familiar to me, word by word, from one of my commentaries!!! In a sense I was flattered that one would give merit to my input, though copied word by word – regardless of being glaring ‘plagiarism’. In any case, the words are relevant for me to repeat them here >>> “Poor Eritrea has no enemy, but itself! This has to be admitted! Prove it otherwise without tantrum – the field is wide open. It requires deep knowledge, ingenuity, and above all a sense of REALITY”.

    You never fail to remind us that we have no authentic history as Eritreans, unless we accept to be called ‘Bahre Negash’ that according to you implies we are an Ethiopian province.

    ASSERTIVENESS SKILLS

    Assertiveness means standing up for your personal rights – expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in direct, honest and appropriate ways. It is important to note also that: By being assertive we should always respect the thoughts, feelings and beliefs of other people.

    Assertiveness is not something that is inherited. Assertiveness is a skill that anyone can learn if he decided to. Lack of assertiveness usually results from the way a person was raised. If a child was constantly told that he must be nice in order for others to like him then he might not become assertive when he grows up.

    The good news is that you can learn how to be assertive starting today once you take the decision and decide that you won’t let go of your rights anymore for the sake of pleasing others.

    In order to be assertive you must stick to these rules and guidelines:

    • You have the right to have your own values, beliefs, opinions, and emotions.
    • You have the right not to justify or explain your actions to others.
    • You have the right to tell others how you wish to be treated.
    • You have the right to express yourself and to say, “No,” “I don’t know,” “I don’t understand,” or even “I don’t care.”
    • You have the right to take the time you need to formulate your ideas before expressing them.
    • You have the right to make mistakes.
    • You have the right to stand up for yourself and for what you want.
    • You have the right to be treated with respect.
    If you refused to follow these guidelines and if you insisted on not being assertive then you might end up feeling worthless as your self confidence will be badly affected.

    It is a marvelous suggestion. But let us be real. For a society which had been under colonial rules for seemingly time immemorial, coupled with its own arresting sociological discipline upon the “child” from infancy to adulthood, the call to free The Mind can only be an honest dream for a noble attempt.     ወዲ ሰብ ክዛረብ እንከሎ ቀዳምነት ንዘዋህለሎም ሓሳባት ቅድሚ ምዝራቡ ከባቢኡ ክዕዘብ (ክድህስስ) ይግባእ ተስፋጽዮን ዘቕርቦም ዘሎ ኣበሃህላታት ሓቅነት ዝጎደሎምን ኣብ ባይታ ዝኾነ ዓይነት መቐይሮ ወይ ለውጢ ከጽምኡ ዝኽእሉ ነጥብታት ከቐምጥ ዘይምኽኣሉ ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ ገለ ገለ ሓሳባቶም ንሕዝቢ ከቕርቡ ንዝፈተኑ ሰባት ንኸም በዓል “ኣማኑኤል ኣሰና” ትዛረቦ ዘረባ ናብ ህዝቢ ተቕርቦ ስለዘለኻ ኣገባቡ ዘይሓዘ ወይ ዓቕሚ ይጎድለካ ኣሎ ኢሉ ክዛረብ ምፍታኑ ማዕረ ኽንደይ ካብ ሓቂ ርሒቑ ከምዘሎ ንዝኾነ ሰብ ንጹረ ይመስለኒ። ምኽንያቱ እዚ ሰብዚ ንዝገብሮን ዝዛረቦን ዘሎ ክግምግም ዘይኽእል ሰብ ክነሱ ብዛዕባ ሰባት ክዛረብ ምፍታኑ ከይገረመኒ ኣይሓለፈን። ተስፋጽዮን ንዓይ ከምተረዳኣኒ እንተኾይኑ ካብ ክለሰሓሳብት ሓሊፉ ግብራዊ ስራሕ ከመይ ጌርካ ይስርሕ ይኹን ስራሕ ምስተሰርሐ ኣብ ሕብረተሰብ ይኹን ኣብ ሃገር እንታይ ዓይነት ለውጢ ከኸትል ወይ ከምጽእ ይኽእል ንዝብል ኣብ ግምት የእትዩ ንኽዛረብ ዓቕሚ ይጎድሎ እዩ ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ ናይዚ ዝህዉትቶም ዘሎ ነገራት ዝኾነ ዓይነት ተሞክሮ ዘለዎ ሰብ ዘይሙኻኑ ካብ ዘቕርቦም ዘሎ ትሕዝቶታቱ ክግንዘብ ክኢለ ኣለኹ።

    ብዝኾነ ኣብ መወዳእታ ከመሓላልፎ ዝደሊ መልእኽቲ እንተሎ ተስፋጽዮን ናይ ምዝራብ መሰል ኣለዎ ጥራሕ ዘይኮነ ምህዉታቱ ቀጻሊ ምኳኑ ዘማትእ ኣይኮነን እዩ። ምኽንያቱ ንዝብሎ ዘሎ ኣበሃህላታት መእሰሪ ወይ መዕለቢ ንኽረኽበሉ ከጸግሞ ምኻኑ ንጹር ይመስለኒ። ንሕና ኤርትራዊያን ብሕጂ ተሓጺብካ ናብ ጭቃ ከም ዝበሃል ኣበሃህላ “ሕልሚ ዓባይ ትግራይ [ኣግኣዝያን] ሕልሚ ናይ ብዓል ወልደኣብ ወልደማርያም ነሳስየሉ ምኽንያት የብልናን።

    ኤርትራ ናይ ኤርትራዊያን “ንትሸዓተ ብሄራት ዜጋታት ኤርትራ ማዕረ ከምትብጸሖም” ጥራሕ ክንፈልጥ ኣለና። ኤርትራ ንትግርኛ ተዛራባይ ብፍሉይ ትብጸሖ ወይ ሓለፋታት ዝረኸበላ ምኽንያት ከምዘየለ ተፈትዩ ተጸሊኡ ኩሉ ኤርትራዊ ዜጋ ክፈልጦ ይግባእ።
