I appreciate your clarity and the readiness to admit the mistakes. As I followed your interview, the following ideas came to my mind:

      a) Why are most memebers of the EPLF especially those that belonged to the party (hidden one) furious if anyone condemns or criticize the corruptions and the abuses that were perpetrated on the common fighters and the people of Eritrea.

      b) I wonder if there would be some bold enough, corageous leaders to accept or admit the mistakes committed and show readiness to compensate for the damages done.

In conclusion, I would earnestly urge my fellow Eritreans especially the justice seekers to understand that there are so many selfless members of the regime that continue suffering and so let us stop condemning all the EPLF as a group bandits (shefta).

        Dear Tecleab,

After reading your comment, this question appeared in my mind: Why do Eritreans call the Italian colonialism as one of the most barbaric fascism of the 20th century? There were selfless members (such as the Eritrean askaris) that continued suffering so let us stop condemning all the Italian colonialism as a group fascists. Does this make sense to you? If your answer is “No”, you are right. It does not make sense. your last paragraph also hardly makes any sense. Shaebia was a private enterprise of one man and his name is Isaias Afeworki. He was the alpha and omega of the EPLF. Everyone else was there to execute his commands. Why do people find this glaring fact so difficult to understand? ኤርትራውያን መጕሃይቲ.

          Tsehaye

          Greetings!

Thanks for your reply with a focus or emphasis on my stand. I guess I did not miss your point. I am saying please, let us not forget those who really fought innocently starting with the likes and associates of the interviewee himself. He claimed that he glorified the EPLF and devoted his tender age for their cause; i.e. inadvertently for what is going on now. However, as you might have understood from his interview, he later on discovered and understood the conspiracy that is and had been going on since its inception. I agree with you 200%; the rogue regime at the helm in contemporary Eritrea at present is a group of vagabond Mafias. Hence, don’t you think it is important to single out the bunch of traitors instead of generalizing. If you insist on your view, I don’t Know where you were on May 24, 1991. I was in Asmara. I am not sure if you had a chance to witness the day from within Asmara; everyone had celebrated, lobbed the fighters and even some of us worshipped the devil (I think you understand me whom I am referring to; to be clear ‘Wedi Medhin Berad’) to be honest only few people cautiously insinuated the situation that is going on in Eritrea at present. It means then each and every one of us should take responsibility ( I mean we are also partly responsible for the damage incurred for commending or encouraging them without asking them what their plans would be) and start anew to rectify the damage. I don’t mean let us forget; I mean let us give chance to time and rule of law and focus or save our people and country from destruction. Let us stop bickering as to what has happened but rather let us unite and employ the stop loss order (save our country). HOPEFULLY ALL UNDERSTAND MY IDEA.

Yep! it is called Eritrean rigidity.I have brothers,sisters,cousins,friends..who gave it all in EPLF for the sake of their people, unfortunately, they were duped by one man whose goal was totally different than theirs. He even acts and carries himself different that any of us,cold ,calculated, shows no outward emotion, and he targeted my gullible people[the potato harvesters] and nestled among them and hypnotized them with his charm. It is a bitter pill to swallow.Today his corporation is taking shape,he is luring foreign investment, and my people that toiled for him and their children are trekking around the globe like gypsies.

Brother, with all due respect and my appreciation for you for standing against the tyrant, I differ with you on what you think, people find attractive in Iseyas. Definitely, it’s not his charm but “he-is-one-of-us” type of thinking, which is common not only among ‘potato harvesters’ but also among Eritreans in different parts of the country. Till we continue defending an evil person among us, simply for being from our region, religion or ethnic group, we will have many dictators of our own making. If not Iseyas some one else.

          • k.tewolde March 17, 2016

Wedebat, don’t take my words out of the context,I simply mentioned that area ,because it was his spring board, his launching pad where he cemented himself to commence his dictatorial journey.

        Selam brother tecleab
The speech of Tegadalay Bitweded spoke the volume . I was ELF Tegadalay
in front lines and the ones who we use to lean on were our leaders in
peace and battle time (MERAHTI GANTATAT -HAYLITAT) and we saw them die
from enemy bullet one by one . The same NUXUHAT compatriots left behind
alone dominated by selfish Eritreans for self interest in free Eritrea .
Issayas created atmosphere to divide rank and file tegadelti with general
population and to continue same rhetoric shows our choice for arrogant attitude . We better exercise wisdom and listen to inner self instinct .

I don’t know this guy is blaming the struggle and EPLF not the HGDF individuals , I don’t think he knows a lot , how could he let the blood sucker leaders like ISAYAS, FILLIPOS, TEKNLY belae seb , YEMANES off the hook , these are the people who are responsible for the brutal crime committed against Eritreans not the Struggle.

Dear brother who is being interviewed, my heart aches hearing your roaring voice!
I learned that this is the 2nd time you have been to Ethiopia. Once as a proud Eritrean fighting injustice (derg) and now running away from injustice perpetrated by the very government who u sacrificed so much!
I am so sorry that many of us (“the silent majority”) failed you big time!
    May God redeem you!

    Confusing very confusing

-The eye wetness is talking about the same disastrous Ghedli before or after 91.
-The underage have been suffering in Halewa Sewra in Nakfa, just as it had been before 91.
-The poor Ghedli – handicap had left Bahre-Negash ,and became a refugee in Ethiopia.Mind you ,he is in wheelchair!!!!!
-The ‘independent torch’ have been touring ‘independent Eritrea’.
-The globalized world became very small, and we? yes,we? where are we?

What is going on with us ?stop blaming Isaias, blame yourself, for being so naive and ኣምሰሉ.

The majority of Eritrean freedom fighters (both ELF and EPLF) had one and only one thing their mind; to free Eritrea from colonialist.
The few, who were heavily coated and molded had different agenda and that agenda was nothing to do with free Eritrea or Eritrea at all. Unfortunately, that team won the first phase—>to kill any Eritrean who is smart with independent mind.
That modified hidden party is also winning in the 2nd phase—->to destroy Eritrean identity and Eritrea as a country.
We have a slight chance to get our country and our identity back. All we need is an honest hero. The rest will fit into the cracks. Let’s hope that hero will miraculously pop up, soon.
