I think I have positive criticism to Assenna. It is really odd to invite a ghost for interview.Very unusual to assenna. You always come with those eye witness who experienced first hand for interview. But in this case first the guy is not willing to identify himself for no apparent reason. If he was willing to share his expertise I doubt he has any at all except he was an employee for Nevsuns’ at early stage of exploration. It is not hard to guess he was a support staff not an expert in mining or for that matter ecologist or expert in industrial wast management. His knowledge about the subject matter is bit shallow. Insulting the entire nation as they lack knowledge especially those who vandalized the Basha establishment as reckless. In fact the are very clever and brave souls my God keep them safe. They created no harm during excellent operation. HGDEF and their supporters live by spreading fear. Fear of unknown and choose to stick with the status quo. This interview is complements HGDEF and supporters act of deceit. Destroying Bash would had been mush better if it was burned down. But this is not bad either. It sends a clear massage to those want to do business with PFDJ. The ghost interviewee even try to justify Nevsun as responsible organization which cares about the community. It was a lip service because Nevsun is known for its selfish target of quick return but nothing else matter. Slave labor with the most repressive regime to do business says a lot what Nevsun objectives. What is realy ridiculous is the ghost man try to order what those guys to do or no to by try to over exaggerating the impact over the entire region. simple scaremongering!!!!Typical HGDEF style. Please assenna don’t invite ghost next time.

Tes with all do respect, this person give us (me for one) information that we don’t know. what is wrong with that? It you have a knowledge better than him, then come forword. Other than that take your medicine.

    • wediare March 29, 2015

Your message is nonsense even your advice is the worst. He is saying the byproduct is the worst like your message so don’t taugh the waste.

    Dear Tes,

The interviewee is speaking out so that we Eritreans don’t experience worst contamination of our natural resources resulting in death, cancer or deformity. I for one, coming from science background, have the same concerns about contamination of our resources.

Yes, defeating HGDF is very important, but at what cost? Look up mining contamination online.

The people that have taken this task have taken a great risk to themselves and the reason is to save our people from this Mafia gov’t. I doubt these guys are trying to destroy Eritrea’s natural resource. Again, this people may or may not have the knowledge of spilling these contaminats (Cyanide waste)and its future effects. I don’t see a problem with this information.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and informing us “Interviewee”.

      Haringey
kibur haw/hafti I do agree the gravity of contamination to the eco system. But this ghost person lacks the intellectual integrity. He is shy even to identify what he was doing what his knowledge is . he is not speaking politics, there is nothing to put him in danger by sharing his scientific knowledge about potential contamination. But that ghost man is like a tea boy working in Nassa boasting about the latest satellite launch. I don’t have problem if he come out with proper researched study with pro and cons. Otherwise it hard to take it as face value. Kubur hawi I understand your concern of the impact on the environment but the is no guarantee even with out tight regulations and robust routing check. Eritrean government is incompetent and nevsu n who care less. I pretty sure the area is already contaminated by now. Those big organisations main objective is a speedy return nothing else matter for them.

        @Yes
Do you try to diffenciate politics and science? I think this guy interview is science. I understand Bisha money extends our suffer but if the byproduct licks we gonna suffer more. Just he said “don’t taugh the cyanide and its waste but the other stuff you can do whatever you want do”. That is simple and to the point.

This man wants to be anonymous (not to expose his name) but he exposes his colleagues names who were detained with him. We, Eritreans, don’t know ethics and rights. I appreciate the interview but let’s respect others right to not mentioned their name without their consent.

  • Hahu March 27, 2015

Thank you Assenna, it is good insight in the inner workings of of the Bisha mining that has been the main cash cow of the Higdef regime.

The person has every right to remain anonymous and name the victims of this mine and expose the collaborating criminals who made lots of money out of the Bisha mine while Eritreans are yet to see a penny or qeyah-santim as we used to call the emperor’s worthy santim that used to buy one beles and Caramela Desta of Alem Meharena. (help you to see, how worthless and inflated the Nakfa-santim is now)

i would like to thank the man,he did a great job by giving us important information about mining.i my self learn a lot from this interview.

  • Mahta March 28, 2015

Thanks Aman! Very educational interview, everyone has to listen and expand their knowledge! We can’t keep acting like holligans, it is madness! By the way sometimes, the message is what it matters not the messenger, if you can’t agree with him make your assessment, let the people know about it.

Instead appreciation and encouragement for assenna in particular for brother Amanuel efforts to invite
Eritreans with inside information about matters which concern us , we observe some comments to deviate
    its main purpose .
We learn from this interview serious facts about social , environmental and economical aspects in mining
industry beyond stupid pilitics like some try to mix it differently .

I like this kind of independent thinkers. Kudos to you, Tes!
I am sure Assenna team appreciates the great minds, like Tes. It is easy to find people who are always with you but those are not the most effective. Independent thinkers, like Tes, help you grow multidimensionally. I am sure I will disagree with some of Tes’s comment in the future, so does he with mine. Nevertheless, this dude has a clear stand and principle (not to mention the require intellect).
