Amanuel, your editorial of today July 02, 2016 have caused confusion to many of your followers/listeners. It seems Asana did not have the right understanding of the path of the case of Eritrea’s authorities and how it is being developed. There are so many ways for the resolution of the Human Rights Commission in Genève to reach the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). One of the paths, perhaps, the only one in the case of the Eritrea’s authorities is via the General Assembly of the UN.

The COIE (Commission of Inquiry on Eritrea) report and the resolution by the Human Right Commission in Genève have already been routed with all its recommendations to the General Assembly of the UN. The General Assembly of the UN will in turn route these documents with the outcome of its review, recommendation, and instruction to UNSC. The Special reporter – Sheila kettaruth will present her report to the General Assembly of the UN in September 2016.

When the resolution is routed to African Union (AU), it is to probe avenues where criminals of those who commit crime against humanity can be held accountable. In the words of the commission, it is a “regional mechanism” to hold those accountable for the crime they committed against humanity. This serves at least three purposes: (1) it closes the gap felt by some Africans that the UN or ICC (International Criminal Court) only focuses on African leaders (2) it prepares member states in Africa to execute the decision of ICC (3) it could accelerate the execution of the ICC’s decision.

It should be noted that the UN has no a police force that executes the decision of the ICC. It relies on cooperation of member states to use their respective judicial and police force to execute the ICC’s decision. Those of you who wondered why the case was not routed straight to UNSC or ICC need to sleep tight. The case has its own strategic path.

You said several times routed-routed. Yes you are absolutely right. It is completely routed, repulsed and defeated overwhelmingly.

      • Raphael Arefaine July 4, 2016

It seems that you are trying to impose your wish into the meaning of the word “routed”. The meanings of words are supposed to be understood within the context of the message. For example the meaning of the same word differs in the following:

        • Routed export transaction
        • Routing VS Routed protocols

In the message I shared with you all, routing refers to the interconnection of separate and independent sub-bodies (organs) of the UN. It is just like the sub-networks (subnets) which have non-overlapping IP addresses.

The router is the Human Rights Council that determines which of the UN sub-bodies (organs) should receive the packet.

The packet is the report and HRC resolution and its recommendation

The address of the routing is AU, UN sub bodies (organs)

You must understand how packets travel within a network and similarly you must understand how reports, recommendations, instructions travel within the network of the UN sub-bodies (organs)

          Mr.Raphael

The case has been already dumped. All those A-Z thingamajigs are only for the sake of rectification.

    • Berhe Tensea July 3, 2016

      Raphael,
The other path chosen i at this time is not that bad , they are trying to refer the case to African Union, so that the dracula dictator can be arrested and taken to court like former Chadian leader Hissen Habre. The case is not yet over you are right, it is only developing.
We Eritreans also must continue the fight the momentum with us, we are on the right direction.
The dictator is having a sleepless nights and may pass away and depart to hell sooner.
The zombies who don’t understand the ways and the methods of the UN are feeling happy for now.
The dictator days are numbered, and that is a given.

One of the tragedies of the Eritrean armed struggle is its failure to create a true Eritrean identity based on justice and fairness and perhaps some values of governance Intrinsic in our traditional societies.
Blinded by its limited scope of separating Eritrea from Ethiopia, evil ghedli has conveniently overlooked the contradictions, albeit, non-antagonistic to let it fester and produce a country in the precipices of destruction.
To my knowledge neither the criminal and corrupt ELF nor EPLF were serious enough to fundamentally address/contradictions of national importance as they were both just criminal shefatu bandits.
History is not a narration of the past. History is about why things happened the way they did. As Thomas Meany tells us we should learn that the choice is never between an ideal future and a bad one, but between a better future and a worse one. Eritreans have never been asked what they want freely without fear of reprecussion.
Sadly, members of the elite class has already determined what we want but what we don’t want is the
continuation of the evil ghedli’s misery, mayhem and destruction in poor Eritrea.

Ethiopia has history of violent reputation perpetuated to its own citizens . Amhara
dominated previous government committed crimes on people of different regions
and ethnicity. When Tigrai dominated government took over the power , they are
doing the same atrocities toward Amhara , Oromo , Somalian and others .
Now how the hell you expect us to go back at such kind of a country full of hatred .
Our better future lies when Eritreans recognize the weaknesses that failed people’s
expectations to identify their internal and external enemies . But the issues of Eritrean sovereignty is a done deal closed case .
Reality in life speaks itself and experience teaches good lesson to learn .. Our fathers
past mistake invited Black colonialism that cost us 100,000 lives . Never again .

      • meg July 6, 2016

Amhed well said this kids they don’t know what they are talking or they are blaming either their mother or father. We love you whoever you are if you have Eritrean blood, But you have no right to insult our Ghedli danny and dawit. Thanks. God bless our country.

    • Danny July 4, 2016

      Dawit,

      Very well put.

      • AHMED SALEH !!! July 4, 2016

Very well put comment in wrong website . If he posted to where it belong in
Tigrai online or Aiga forum make a little sense . Otherwise do not waste your
energy because to provoke everyone you are inviting for unnecessary deadly
confrontation . No wonder the blood of Amhara , Oromo and others doesn’t
count in your media outlets to protect the criminality of your regime . And
you don’t show shame to talk about ELF and EPLF . But if we want go back
to history do not forget about TLF , EDU , EPRP , ELF and the conspiracy of
EPLF – WEYANE involvement against them . Their true identity slowly exposed .
So please cut it off don’t fool yourselves . Eritreans under HGDF and Ethiopians
under WEYANE will not see promising peaceful future .
