My name is Samuel Peteros I am 14 years old and I currently live in the United Kingdom. Ever since I was a child I wondered how beautiful Eritrea is? After seeing Eritrea on a family vacation I realized how terrible dictatorship was in Eritrea, when I heard dreadful stories about families and citizens of Eritrea trying to run away in order to forge a good future. I always wondered if, If only Issaias had resigned as president would they stay. If democracy, equality and liberty were introduced would they stay? and for many people the answer would be yes. However in today’s world, Eritrea is unnoticed and forgotten, due to Issaias’ denial of the actual reality in the country. Eritrea’s record with regard to democracy, equality and liberty is appalling.  From given statistics, 2/3 of Eritrea is facing malnourishment this statistics gives a good indication that Eritrean are desperately suffering without anyone realizing the effect Issaias has brought?

When I toured the villages of Eritrea I saw civilians face torture (the darker side of the world) I regretted I couldn’t do anything as nobody would take notice of me because of my age but through this message I want people to take notice open their eyes and read what I have to say as enough is enough all you patriotic Eritreans please listen to this message “if you want a better country with a brighter future stand up for your own peoples right and together we shall destroy all evil hopes and desires Issaias has for our own people”.  Since he was elected all he had done was bring change for the worst whether it was arresting opposition members to journalists, who only wanted to do their job. What do you call this? Where’s the hero we asked for?  None of us wanted dictatorship instead everyone wanted freedom, equality, liberty and democracy on the other hand we get opposite.

Three dictators have died or resigned now its time for Issaias to face his crime and deal with the consequences, for he is the one who is killing innocent civilians for speaking the truth. Iis this what freedom is, where is the democracy and the liberty? Every single person in Eritrea shouldn’t have to carry on living this way but this can only happen with everybody’s support to overthrow the world’s cruellest dictator for the sake of millions.

Thank you for reading my article.

    Dear Samuel Petros,

I read your otherwise superb article with an ample interest. You sure definitely be proud of yourself. If anything, I see already a leader in you. No doubt. When I was your age, I had the tendency to go with the flow and conform with the order of the day for fear of being left out. Simply because I was timid and a coward. But here you are a young guy with an integrity, honesty and a steeled character where you chose to stand up for the majority of the oppressed people when your peers (YPFDJ) are succumbing to the hateful and spiteful propaganda of Isaias and Yemane. Again, you are not only an asset to Eritrea but a pride to the rest of us as well. I hope you will write more as we value your otherwise uplifting and inspiring spirit. I am old enough to call you Samuel wedey. Agena’E.

  • The Bee October 25, 2011

Oppression does not have to go generation to generation. Here we are now, even the 14 year old children are speaking and cannot stand the lack of compassion that PFDJ is showing to its own people. Many of us adults have asked why do we have to be this way? Why do you let your “own” government break the citizens spirit? Maybe the mistake is we call them “our own”. Samuel who was only born when the constitution was ratified in 1997, got the answer. Read it again if you have to….his approach is not passive at all.

abet abet guuuud 14 bele, why don’t you leave these dirty games?and try to convince people with a proper trustworthy and honorable agendas rather than write yourselves and posting it as if it was written by 14 yrs old,

humar,I didn’t deny it,but i hate the lies about a UK brought up child to go for a vacation which is not more than 3-2weeks(according to the UK’s school holidays) and realize these problems in this short period,it would have been believable if the writer made it a bit childish form general poverty comparing to where he brought up,complains about food, ,,,,,, “gn Trrrrrr elkas “how Dictator is ISAYAS.this what i said lie not the situation in Eritrea.or do I’ve to be fool and believe everytrash written here?
You don’t have enough courage to explain what you are struggling for,and if you don’t explain no one can follow idiots who don’t know what they ‘re fighting for and just implement what woyane tells them, thus why the protest which was in London was organized in THE same day and venue where the festival uk was, which can be attended by many including children and you failed to show a respect to the people who was entering the festival insulted them
“Comaro, ktrieuna ekhum” hasewti etc,you should ve respected them and what they were doing and make urself appreciable to attract more and more, but what you did shows that you are a collection of thugs who want to be in
power with any efforts sacrifice.you need to work harder its not enough to stay online 24/7 lying and force ppl to agree if not call them kebti and mrakh.

  • Abdi October 25, 2011

OUR YOUTH’S PROBLEM IS THE UNLIMITED NATIONAL SERVICES,SO LETS SIGN A PETITION ASKING TO BRING IT BACK TO ITS ORIGIN OF TWO YEARS AND SUBMIT IT TO THE ERITREAN EMBASSIES WHERE EVER WE RESIDE,IT’S UNPRECEDENTED IDEA AND DEFINITELY WILL BE SUPPORTED BY THE MAJORITY WHO WANT TO SEE OUR YOUTH’S PARTICIPATION IN BUILDING THE COUNTRY THAN LOSE IN EXILE.
SO LET’S CIRCULATE THIS TO REACH EVERY ERITREAN AND COLLECT SIGNATURES AS MANY AS WE CAN, I BELIEVE IT WILL BRING A WONDERFULL OUTCOME.

**NOTE THIS IS NOT AN UP-RISING AGAINST THE GOV’T AND SHOULD INCLUDE ALL ERITREANS WHO CONCERN ABOUT OUR YOUTH’S FUTURE REGARDLESS OF THEIR POLITICAL OPINIONS**.

EriTV has a lot of good shows that I enjoy whenever I get time. I love the sport reports and I love Shingrwa, dramas, commedies, among other programs.
One of the “shows” that disappoint me is the coverage of PIA’s foreign trips. I don’t know what the purpose of those videos are but we are made to watch him marching thru the red carpet, inspecting honor guard, boarding the plane, city views from above, getting off the plane, his motorcade zigzaging thru the streets from point A all the way to point Z…100% of the content is dedicated for this kinds of activities. Why does the public need to watch all these every time he takes trips?
What these reportages should be showing us, but they don’t is, what exactly is the purpose of the trip, what agreements are being signed, how will these agreements benefit Eritrea, in which fields and in what time frame… You won’t hear any susbstance of that sort. All you hear is the usual generic 1-liner statements “bilateral & regional issues discussed” or “..agreed to work on mutual benefits”.
I don’t watch Ethiopian TV but I doubt it if Meles forces the whole Ethiopia to watch his trip like Isayas does.

      Weldit Asha wodi Asha,
It is calle propaganda…that shows you like yourself so much..what is important is your enternaitenement from what you miss….called Eritera
      shame on you bro.!!

  • zemen beraki October 25, 2011

It is very strange that the bootlickers of Isayas can not know what a 14 year old knew!!! I advise them to wake up because it may be too late after Isayas is captured like Mubarak or dead like his comrade Gadafi. The days of dictators are numbered according to history and their history is thrown in the waste basket. Thank you Samuel!!

    • Abdi October 26, 2011

So what,if ISAYAS gone means you will deny his supporters the right to be eritreans?no wonder ill wishers never succeed, keep up idiot dream.

        Abdi,

Nobody will deny you the right to be Eritrean (Hgdef does that now for a number of reasons), but how we have come to know you in assenna, you are to say the least very rude and foul-mouthed. Your abuse of the ‘Agame’ concept is detestable and obscene. In a democratic system, the majority will render null and void sick-minded militants who specialize in offending others. Basically, I aspire to be a person who would respect and wish to guard anybody’s freedom of expression. After reading your posts in assenna, your obssessve insults of the nobel Agame people has made me sometimes wish to see you in a container at Wi A. You do not bring the best in people but the worst. I am horrified by your belief system as revealed in assenna. If you are a father of growing children, I am saddened by the values you will transmit to them, condemning them to be your alike, which I regret to say will affect their own offsprings and so on and so forth. It is very irresponsible of you to behave the way you do. NEWRI. You keep barking Agame this and Agame that day and night without realizing that your idol, Isayas is as Agame as they come as goes a country of origin. It is not because of that he is being detested, it is because he is power starved and tyrannical that people are now hoping to see him out. I think you should seriously consider to amend your ways. Your behavior, to say the least, is very un-Eritrean. Stop insults!

        • Abdi October 26, 2011

Care about ur children’s up brings, whom you filling upwith betrayals, lies, and dishonestness, and above all to to be cheap and loyal to Agames,ya agame.yet claiming not to deny, indeed you can’t cos you wouldn’t be getting to that position in the first place, metaqosi metaqosin lehas saeni koynu sle zterf.

    Z’kheberkum Ganta Assenna,

Of course I don’t mean to tell you what to do but it would be prudent to discourage commentators from using an offensive language for Samuel Petros is a minor where he expects us to opine on his article with civility rather than spinning off a tangent and throwing jibs on each other.
