A boat carrying migrants reportedly capsized between Sicily and Tunisia on Friday, according to the Italian navy.

Italy’s national news agency ANSA reported spotting bodies, while a navy spokesman said, “There are at least 200 people in the sea and our helicopters are picking them up.”

The Associated Press reported at least nine bodies had been recovered, citing the Italian navy. The navy rescued 221 people.

Italian ships and helicopters were at the scene helping with the rescue.

Local media suggested the boat was carrying Somali and Eritrean nationals.

The tragedy comes just a week after more than 300 people drowned carrying African migrants near the Italian island of Lampedusa. Only 155 survivors were rescued of the 500 in that accident.

The previous incident prompted theEuropean Union to call for extra resources to launch Mediterranean-wide search and rescue patrols.

On Tuesday, 400 people claiming to be Syrian and Palestinian refugees were saved off the Italian coast by a Danish and a Panamanian vessel when their boats ran into trouble.

What is with this…..another boat another tragedy? Did they not hear the news of the recent boat? Are they playing with their life now – who is at fault this time? Before settling one another boat? I understand they are in desperate situation but – again daring the same fate? Or is this another false news…. God bless the soul of those who have gone….

what the hell is this really we lost more than 300 people and now this I am sure a lot of people will try to cross the see soon because they think EU will waiting for them with open arm. I saw the victims picture I couldn’t even breath they are so young to die a mother with three cute babies who in the hell gave her this stupid idea what a sad story for Eritrea always dying. We should BOYCOTT those singers who was parting in Atlanta with those heart less Eritreans.
Lest get rid this asshole DIA before more young Eritrean die (illegal African immigrants) he will never stop until we all die & Ethiopia will walk to Asmara.

    • MightyEmbasoyra October 11, 2013

That is his only purpose. That stupid shifta leader wants to get rid of Eritreans by any means and then Ethiopia can get in with no war. This guy is not Eritrean and he hates us deeply. I am not sure why he hates Eritreans this deep.

Seems like Eritrean are in desperate which I don’t blame them, they have no choice but to try their best to be somebody, somebody who can live freely without any restrictions that have been denied them in their homeland. The choices are death under bloody HIGDEF or run to save their life.

I can’t bear this anymore. The major sourse of this problem are those relatives who in the west. Why do you guys encourage these innocent people (your family) to cross the sea. Do you still have to repeat same mistake and mourn everyday. If the adults decide about their own fate, it is up to them. But why the children? Why should they die without their choice? whoever assists them financially, he/ she is accountable for that. This is not over, we will still see same or worst tragedies happening again unless we stop encouraging them. Dont even let them reach Libya, once they reach Libya they cant go back. Please, all Eritreans stop this. Those adults who want to die, use your guts to change the system that pushing you out of your country.

I am an Ethiopian, and would like to say my condolence to my fellow Eritreans about the tragedy unfolding in from of our eyes.
May God bless them all and give courage to the survivors to get back to their normal life.
My Question to my Eritrean friends is, what is going on with you, how can one man do all these damage to the whole population. You are strong people what got in to your values, seriously you have hit bottom, sorry but you need to get your act together and do something.
    God Bless…

I am so numb and angry about 320 already dead and the 13 Eritreans who had been thrown to the sea at gun point by the smugglers a week earlier and now this?
